Norma: indeed! I think attempting to get more attention is exactly what they were trying to do when they used the word “gulag.”

Mike: Thanks for posting! You make a great point. There are so many words who’s meanings have been diluted (or there’s an attempt at diluting them anyway) … using terms like “gulag” and “Holocaust” to describe our actions in Iraq/Afghanistan/Gitmo dilutes the real meanings of the words and also gives people the wrong impression of both our mission and the troops who are faithfully fighting the mission

This perversion of language and meaning is an old socialist trick. If people become so confused as to the nature of REAL EVIL, they are less likely to take the difficult actions necessary to oppose it.
