If I were you I would start wishing it was only Karl Rove who was going down. Someone with a top secret security clearance has to be the source of that leak. I don't know why an advisor to the President who was not a member of the cabinet would have such a clearance although I don't know for sure. My point however, is that this is not looking good for several people higher up than Rove. But we will wait and see. Fitzgerald is no political pawn for either party and according to the opinions of the judges who have seen his evidence he is on to something big.

Please. Do you expect me to think that because John Dean worked for the Nixon admin that he's sympathetic to the Bush administration? I think not.

As far as the statute is concerned, I think you've joined up with Dean and the rest of the wishful thinkers that somehow,in light of the fact that your case has completely fallen apart, Rove is still going down for this. Someone in the admin may go down, but it doesn't look like it's going to be the eevil Karl Rove, and that's going to be extremely disappointing for those of you who wanted so desperately to pin something - anything - on him in order to hurt the W admin. This manufactured controversy has about played itself out.

I don't think John Dean is wishing for an indictment. He happens to be a Republican from the Nixon Whitehouse days. Here's his bio http://writ.news.findlaw.com/dean/ . What he is trying to say is that the media continues to look at one particular statute, The Identities Protection Act. What we know of what Karl Rove did so far does not appear to be in violation of that particular law. However, he may still have committed a crime. The fact that Valerie Plame worked for the CIA constitutes classified information. Only someone with a security clearance would have known who she worked for. That information is the property of the government and cannot be disclosed and it cannot be used except for the benefit of the government. If someone used that information for political gain, such as to discredit a political opponent they would be breaking the law. That person would have in essence stolen the property of the government and used it for personal gain. The penalty could be one year in jail. Here is a link to the statute.

NONE of this makes any rational sense; it's all driven by fanatical Bushatred. It appears that Rove's entire contribution to the "outing" of a mundane CIA employee was saying, "I heard that, too" when Bob Novak said, "I heard Wilson's wife works for the CIA." He didn't even confirm the information. Maybe we can move on to the next manufactured scandal next week.
