I love General Honore!

General Honore apparently has had enough of reporters asking ‘stupid’ questions. Check out some snippets from this transcript – you’ll find audio there as well (emphasis added by me):

Male reporter: General Honore, we were told that Berman Stadium on the west bank would be another staging area…

Honore: Not to my knowledge. Again, the current place, I just told you one time, is the convention center. Once we complete the plan with the mayor, and is approved by the governor, then we’ll start that in the next 12-24 hours. And we understand that there’s a problem in getting communications out. That’s where we need your help. But let’s not confuse the questions with the answers. Buses at the convention center will move our citizens, for whom we have sworn that we will support and defend…and we’ll move them on. Let’s not get stuck on the last storm. You’re asking last storm questions for people who are concerned about the future storm. Don’t get stuck on stupid, reporters. We are moving forward. And don’t confuse the people please. You are part of the public message. So help us get the message straight. And if you don’t understand, maybe you’ll confuse it to the people. That’s why we like follow-up questions. But right now, it’s the convention center, and move on.

Male reporter: General, a little bit more about why that’s happening this time, though, and did not have that last time…

Honore: You are stuck on stupid. I’m not going to answer that question. We are going to deal with Rita. This is public information that people are depending on the government to put out. This is the way we’ve got to do it. So please. I apologize to you, but let’s talk about the future. Rita is happening. And right now, we need to get good, clean information out to the people that they can use. And we can have a conversation on the side about the past, in a couple of months.

“Stuck on stupid” – I love it! Ok, so it wasn’t the most diplomatic way to handle the question but still .. :)

Here’s some audio from that press conference as well that includes the “stuck on stupid” reference, via Ian.

Repoters do not deserve to to be treated with respect, period, I would call them f-ing vultures only that would be unkind to vultures

      “Stuck on stupid”

When I first heard about that, I thought to myself: Self, it’s their default position!

    3. PCD says:

      ST,

If you blogroll Hugh Hewitt, you have to blogroll RadioBlogger, his radio show producer. RadioBlogger has the complete transcript of the newsconference where Gen. Honore took over and uttered his now famous lines.

Gen. Honore will become a new folk hero like Gen. “Stormin’” Norman Swarzkopf and Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, AZ (Phoenix).

    4. Camo: Indeed

PCD: You’re right, I should! I’ll take care of that right now.

    5. Slublog says:

Howdy. Thanks for the link. Saw the trackback didn’t work for some reason – sorry about that. I have a spam blocking program that seems overzealous at times. Still needs tweaking.

    6. No problemo, Slu. Good job on the graphics!

    7. ArizonaTeach says:

Ooooohhhh…..I wish you hadn’t mentioned Joe Arpaio….he ain’t as well-respected here in Arizona as his publicity tries to show (He just complained to the local paper because an article about how a bunch of officers went to help in NO didn’t mention him by name for approving the mission). He gets elected, yeah, but not because he’s a hero…

    8. Slublog says:

      Thank you. Photoshop is fun.

    9. Bachbone says:

      I hope some C&W star writes a song using that line. A refrain…something like…

      Well, you’re stuck on stupid
      And you just cain’t move,
      So I’m leavin’ you, baby,
      Till you’re outta that groove!

I’ll bet we all have wanted to say that to someone once upon a time, eh?

    10. M. Ferrington says:

Russel Honore for president… Congress watch out because You’ve been stuck on stupid.

    11. oregano says:

I wish more leaders and politicians would talk as plainly as General Honore has demonstrated.

    12. Bach: I’m literally LOL here! That would be perfect for a country song :)

      M. Ferrington: Hehe … I’m looking for a website of that nature to be started soon!

Oregano: Amen! Wouldn’t that be a refreshing change?

    13. Annie says:

Telling reporters/democrats to ‘not get stuck on stupid’ is like telling a skunk not to stink.

    14. trevor kane says:

I want to know if Honore’s father was Major Honore’
in 1953 in theU. S. Army- Leroy Johnson Camp stationed in New Orleans port of Embarkation?
He was head of the CID at the Port.

My dad served under him and was curious to know if Russell Honore’ is his son. My Dad was an MP in the Army

      Can anyone tell me?

    15. nylady says:

No, that is his cousin, not his father. His cousin retired as a Major General several years ago.
