Tom Delay isn’t the only one with Abramoff connections

Posted by: ST on December 4, 2005 at 10:47 pm

I’m a bit late on linking up to this, but Matt Margolis at his No Agenda blog has a graphic that notes the Democrats in Congress who have ties to embattled lobbyist and pal-of-Tom-Delay Jack Abramoff. You won’t read much about these ties in the MSM, because they are too concerned with bringing down a Republican (see more here) to notice.

I’m shocked! I can’t believe that members of the party of the Sleazy & Seditious would be hooked up with a man of such ill repute…

  2. russ says:

Apparently this same party is in hot pursuit of the gay vote… (hat tip to Conservative Outpost)

  3. PCD says:

I note Sen. Tom Harkin is on the list from reading the local rag. Let it be said that being hypocrites has never slowed down the modern Democrat party in smearing people.

  4. CDB says:

So Abramoff is guilty? Did the Democrats do somthing illegal? So the Republicans involved are also crooks? Or is it OK to commit a crime if both sides are involved? Who are you defending here and why?

  5. Bill says:

By all means, let’s line up the crooked Democrats and Republicans, find out who dirty dealed with super-Republican Abramhoff, and let the chips fall where they may. But, you’re going to be disappointed and you know it if the whole truth comes out. Democrats were not going on golf outings in Scotland and they weren’t going on junkets to the sex industry in the Northern Mariannas. Delay and Abramoff with their “K Street Project” made sure that republicans held most of the cards. Now they’ll get what they deserve and all you can say is “some Democrats did it too.” Funny and pathetic.

  6. CDB: I’m not sure how you got that I was “defending” anyone. A bit of a knee-jerk reaction on your part.

Bill: What’s “funny and pathetic” is that you apparently don’t get the big picture and that is that the MSM is too busy tying Tom DeLay to Abramoff to do much more outside of the bare minimum digging on Dem ties to DeLay. THAT is the point of the post, not moral relativism (which is something people in your party are legendary at engaging in), and it’s too bad you didn’t get it.

  7. Matthew says:

Oooh, poor Republicans, set up K street, then get caught with their fingers in the Abramoff Cookie Jar. So what’ll we do blame the Democrats. BS, your party ran on Accountability (remember the Contract with America) and you’ve proved as craven and inept as the Democrats. Good Riddance to Bad Rubbish.

  8. LOL – “blame the Democrats”? Is today National Lack of Comprehension Day for the Democrats or something? You’re the third one who’s posted along those lines – none of you get it. It’s almost like you guys are working off a script ;)

  9. Any Dems who broke the law should be tried and convicted just like Duke. I would like to see that same chart with Republicans added just for perspective.

  10. Lorica says:

Since Delay just had the Conspriacy charge dropped today, the money laundring charge is unattainable. Without conspiracy how are you going to prove intent, and all Delay has to say is Opps. What are they going to say??

John I too would like to see a list like that. I am a die hard republican, but if they are going to act like democrats, I say get ‘em out of the party. We just started cleaning house, with the rep. in CA, perhaps others will check their selves and straighten their stuff up.

Not in the defense of anyone, but I remember all the liberals in the 90′s defending Clinton with “it’s just about sex”. So Bill part of your accusations mean nothing even to yourself. – Lorica

As a liberal, I feel that corruption is corruption, and if Democrats are involved in the Abramoff scandal, then by all means, TAKE THEM DOWN!!! Ending the careers of corrupt politicians on both sides of the aisle is always good for the country.

  12. PCD says:

    Joe,

What is your position on Democrat DA’s using their offices to persecute political opponents? IE. Ronnie Earle v. Tom Delay and that FL DA fishing in Limbaugh’s medical files.

  13. jlg17 says:

    PCD:

What is your position on Republican Supreme Court justices using their offices to say “OK. Stop counting the votes. We say that George Bush won, and that’s that.”?

EVERYBODY, and I mean EVERYBODY uses their office in order to further their own agenda, and their party’s agenda. Name one person who doesn’t, and then prove it.

If Presidents –Republican and Democrat alike — didn’t want this to happen, they wouldn’t work so hard at loading the bench in every court in America with people who they thought would cleave to the party line in all things. Republicans look for Democratic malfeasance, and the Democrats look for skidmarks in Republican underwear.

Everybody’s sh– stinks, but everybody’s so used to the smell of their own sh– that they only notice how the other guy smells.

By the way, while Americans stay busy tearing out each other’s throats, don’t think that our enemies aren’t just laughing their asses off and making their plans.

    jlg17,

Your bias and ignorance of the law is showing. The Supreme Court ruled according to the constitution. You’re just a “Sore Loserman” because you and your fellow travelers got caught trying to steal an election. The FL Supreme Court made a mockery of the laws and Constitution of the State of Florida and deserved to get reversed as much as the US 9th Circuit gets reversed for the same things.

  15. jlg17 says:

I love you guys. You would have been so right at home in Hermann Goering’s Ministry of Disinformation. I think that half of you — at least — are probably liberals trying to make conservatives look bad.

  16. PCD says:

    jlg17,

You make yourself look arrogant, elitist, and ignorant. FYI, Goering was Field Marshall of the Luftwaffe (Air Force). Joeseph Goebbles was the minister of information and patron saint to the MSM.

You want to continue making yourself look bad?

  17. Pam says:

jlg17 said- What is your position on Republican Supreme Court justices using their offices to say “OK. Stop counting the votes. We say that George Bush won, and that’s that.”? They followed the COTUS, which is a little fact that you love to toss aside. This was a Federal Election not a State Election. The SCOTUS had the obligation under the COTUS to rule on this case. I am sure you wouln’t be discussing this had they ruled for Gore. You would more than likely be screaming their praises. Well get over it. You didn’t get your way and Gore didn’t win. Even the re-counts done by the various news organizations show he lost.

  18. Pam says:

jlg17-I love you guys. You would have been so right at home in Hermann Goering’s Ministry of Disinformation Your ignorance on the issues is apparent with this ridiculous statement!

  19. jlg17 says:

jlg, I suggest that if you are having that much time trying to “find intelligent life here” at this blog, then you move along to one that is more suitable to your liking. Nothing Pam wrote in her post deserved the response you gave her. No one is forcing you to post here, and if you find us that much “below” your level, it’s best you move on. –ST

  20. jlg17 says:

Wow – all the topics out there in this great big world and you’ve decided you want to blog about lil ol’ me? Well shucks, I’m so very honored! Here’s a little tip for you, “jlg” – if you want to have a dialogue with people what you DON’T want to do right out of the gate is come into the conversation telling everybody how stupid you think they are via comments like “looking for intelligent signs of life”. Don’t act like you’ve been wronged here because you haven’t. You came here and tried to start something and now you’re uptight because I put a stop to it.

If there’s a type of liberal I really cannot stand it’s a know it all who tries to pass him/herself off as a martyr to their ’cause’ – which is to ‘educate’ us ‘poor conservatives’ who just don’t know any better than to ‘mindlessly follow our leader.’ I sincerely hope you find much more interesting topics to blog about other than me – I think it’s much more important to focus on the pressing issues of the day rather than waste precious time with petty diatribes about other bloggers. But to each his/her own … oh and as far as ‘proving points, the thanks goes all to you. Buhbye. –ST
