I've never understood why wishing a person "Merry Christmas" would border on a hate crime. I guess it's because I am so clueless that if somebody wishes me "Happy Hannukah" I neglect to fly into a towering snit.

Seems to me that common civility (yeah, wishful thinking, I know) would have a decent person accept the greeting in the spirit it is intended. And if you are a really doctrinaire member of another faith, then the words are meaningless and you could ignore them. So what's the problem?

But that is the heart of political correctness - the assumption that ordinary people are stupid, weak, and fragile and must be sheltered from things that confues or upset us. What offends me are the PC clowns that insist on imposing themselves on my life and into my thoughts - why don't they take their own medicine and butt out? Why don't they consider that I am suffering harm from their nagging?

Okay, I'm not, of course, but if they were consistent and really believed in the tripe they peddle, they'd leave us alone, wouldn't they?

<strong>Kevin:</strong>
I actually pointed out that breakdown of the word holiday to a co-worker on Friday, when he mentioned the Lowe's thing...

People seem to have forgotten that 'holiday' means 'holy day'. I bet 'holiday' will be replaced when they remember :(
