GBA, only you could look at the total mess the PA is in, and come up with 1) an idea that Hamas is “cool” and 2) extrapolate from that total mongolian goat screw into an insult against religion in this country.

What, have you had your head in the sand completely for the past, oh, 2 or 3 decades? Hamas’ actions really surprise you? Hamas is predictable, they have been for decades.

- We may have areas of agreement….I’m sure we do GBA, but trying to insist theres equivalency between the true writings of the Christian bible, and the genocide, and “its ok to beat your wife with a tire iron if she dishonors you by trying to learn to read” as is found in the Q’oran…. Well lets just say on that point we’ll always have a healthy disagreement. And that is why you have a strange idea that seperation of church and state means we must disavow our Judeo/Christian heritage. In fact thats why the Left is trying so hard to afix equivalency. They don’t give a jack rabbits tush about the ME. Their agenda is to remove Americas hereitage whereever they can, period. If they can establish a seeming fact of “evil” by demonizing those values and morals >85% of the American public believe in, even people who are agnostic, they will. Thats the real purpose behind the equivalency scam. Fortunately for America, hardly anyone outside of the moonbat camp is buying it.

GBA, The 1st ammendment says, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

I bolded the part I did a college paper on. Nowhere in the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independance or any other founding document is there a “separation of church and state”. The phrase was first coined in a letter written by Thomas Jefferson the 3rd president.

This 1st ammendment means that Congress shall make NO law respecting an establishment of religion NOR should it PROHIBIT the free exercise thereof. This means that Congress cannot go around removing religion from public places.

Government removing religion from public places is a bad idea. We should be able to freely worship. And I’m not a particularly religious guy. I’m not an atheist either. To act offended and have the government remove religion is the wrong way to go.

I got an A on my paper because I did a lot of work on it.

That sucks for the Palestinians because this is the type of stuff moderate Palestinians, especially the Christians, were afraid of. I was hoping HAMAS would be cool. But it seems it’s not in their nature.

God help the Pals….they’re going to need it. They have obviously made a deal they’re going to regret it seems on many levels for years to come.

This is a perfect example of what can go wrong when you mix religous charities, religous fundamentalist and government. We should learn from this mistake and make sure we keep the church and the state totally seperate in our own country. We do a pretty good job but we can do a whole lot better.

Good point, Lorica. That means that the next attack could be construed as an act of war (legally, morally we know that these people have been warring on Israel from day one). Anybody else remember ’73 when egypt et al ganged up in Israel in yet another attempt to push Israel into the sea, and got pushed back and actually lost the Sinai penninsula? (They got it back because grinnin Jimmy thought it wasn’t fair that the obvious aggressor should have to lose land even though they were beaten back).
The problem is Hamas likes to attack while your back is turned then run hide among non-combatants.

I guess that steve thinks those halcyon days of being able to go in and order a pizza without the guy next to you detonating himself are rightly gone. Anybody who thinks that genocide is justifyable should not be taken seriously, unless he has demonstrated the willingness and ability to carry it out.

Of course Israel has a right to exist. Even the PLO has said that. The stupid and harsh policies of Sharon and bush caused the election of Hamas.
