I don’t think Steve understands the concept of free speech, the ability to dissent, mock, tease and kid about anything we want to.

The point he tried to make about Piss Christ is luny – I’m a right-wing conservative, but even though I was insulted and angry about the Crucifix in urine, and I protested with a letter to the editor complaining that my taxes were paying for this ‘art’, I did not storm an art museum, gallery or anything else.

I have no problem with Muslims being unhappy with the cartoons – but when they demand trials for the cartoonists and want them beheaded, and when they kill people and burn embassies, well, that kind of behaviour is beyond the pale. And any news organization who refuses to print these basically typical cartoons is a chickenshit. Believe me, CNN, all the East Coast papers and more printed pictures of Piss Christ and of the Holy Virgin Mary in elephant dung – and no one died for doing that – and no one ever will because we are free to express ourselves in this country.

Steve, Americans did not want the government to pay for a bottle of urine with a cross in it. No one said the guy can’t urinate in a bottle and drop a crucifix in it if he’s in the mood. I’m guessing it would not be a money making venture though, if he could not sponge off the gov’t.
