Following in the footsteps of Patterico, who had a great idea at his blog last month by asking his readers and commenters to post information about themselves (like where they are from, what they do, their hobbies, favorite sports teams, etc etc) I’m asking the same of the readers and commenters here.
So tell me a bit more about you. Not asking for deep personal info, just the general stuff. This will be a great way not only for me to get to know you, but your fellow readers and commenters to, as well. You already know who I am, so now it’s your turn. C’mon now, don’t be shy!

Guess I’ll “revise and extend my remarks”.
I’m 49, I tinker with my T-Bird and drive it daily. I do a little bracket racing with the “Bird” with the Super Coupe Club of Iowa when we dine on “Roast GTP” during our club clashes. Do some long distance cruising with the car. When I can afford to, I plan on participating in Hot Rod Magazine’s Power Tour.
Now back to my “Tremors” and James Bond movies with a side of “American Chopper” and “OverHaulin’”.
PCD, What year T-Bird?
Bang said, “Now I have to finish sweeping ST off her feet Word has it you have already !
Tim Thomerson rocks! The best B-Grade scifi actor around, with the possible exception of Bruce Campbell!
Hello everyone. I live east of Denver and have been here since the fall of ’85. Married for nearly 16 years. Wife is a Texan who works as a nurse practitioner in endocrinology. Two kids, boys, 13 and 9.
I’m 47, retired Air Force trifecta (AF, AFRes, COANG) Work with the FAA in Flight Safety. BS in Management (summa cum laude, thank you!) nearly done with my Master of Public Adminstration degree.
Politically, I am a very common animal these days: the ex-moonbat who has seen the light. Grew up mostly in NE Ohio where there is only one political point of view. Heavy rust belt/blue collar/union part of the state.
What did it for me, in the end, was 9/11. I had started to see the reality of things during the Reagan years but it took the WTC attack and the reactions of the two sides to cement things for me.
If you’ve never been on the other side you cannot appreciate how transparent they truly are. You just think you do!
Incidently, I came over here from The Motley Fool discussion boards. A fella who goes by shelbyboy recommended ST’s site as a good place to go. I owe him one!
Baklava, it is a 97 that is customized, but not in the “Pimp My Ride” fashion. I’ve put heavier duty mechanicals in, and am preparing for more “mods” very shortly.
PCD,
I use to bracket race a 70 Plymouth Duster 340 cid and then a 70 GTO 455 cid what I wouldn’t give to have the GTO back. (Glory Days) What do you turn in the quarter and is your T’bird blown?
Ohhh. I was thinkin’ ’57 !
But you’ll go faster in the ’97. Faster than my minivan also!
Jim, My bird has a smoked torque converter. It is a V6, so the best I’ve gotten is 17.04 in the quarter. I don’t have the 1/8th times handy, but they show much better. I’m getting a built TC and putting lower gears in the rear.
I’m building s cammed and stroked V6 that I might put twin turbos on. It all takes money. It won’t be a 10 second car, but I want reliability for long cruises, like from Iowa to Los Angeles.
After I get this done, I have a Super Coupe motor and trans to tweek and put into a 50′s F100 body. That ought to move.
Baklava,
A MINIVAN I’m sorry! We drove minivans for 15 years they are great for transporting kids and their stuff. My wife wanted a sedan AM (After Minivan) and I have always had a truck it fits in the Home Depot parking lot just fine. I bought my 1994 Corvette just before my 50th B’day I told my wife I wanted a Vette while I can still get in and out of it.
Hello,
I’m originally from Michigan, don’t believe a word Mike Moore says and although I’m a registered Republican … I’m more of a moderate independent.
Although, over the past couple days, I’ve been attacked by some hyper-zealot, ultra-liberal, young democrats, from DailyKos.com, accusing me of being a “right-wing hack.” They’ve also called on their buddies to start a “click attack” on my Google ad banner. Has anyone else gotten harrassed like this from DailyKos.com members?
Anyway, I now find myself in the Piedmont of North Carolina and Sister Toldjah is right, this is a beautiful state … we just need to fix some things in Raleigh.
I’m glad I found your site Sistah.
PCD,
Man that sounds like you have it going on! You are right hot rodding cars is a costly thing especially street/strip my Duster turned a flat 13 second quarter at 107 mph. I was only turning 3500 rpm at the end of the run when the 340 could take 6000 rpm put I sold it before I could change out the rear end from 355 gears to 410s. Now I’m happy to drive my Vette (Only on nice days) I have had several people wanting to run from light to light. I’d like to put headers and put Borla exhaust and a 52 mm throttle body on my Vette should increase the HP from 300 to about 350 to 370 on the LT1.
I’m old, retired, married 38 years and believe that religious anarchy is the way to the future. Peace
Hmm, 94 LT1. Quite a few articles in Popular Hot Rodding and Car Craft on squeezing out more ponies out of the LT1 engine. You may consider gasket matching the intake manifold and heads. You might want to consider a chip for the car’s computer.
PCD,
Believe me between guns, a Vette and a saltwater aquarium my wife is ready to use one of my guns on me. I have a buddy (Single) that has a 2002 Z06 that is always sending me articles on increasing the HP. Have been stashing away a little money here and there for Vette parts maybe in a couple more months I can get engine parts right now I’m working on the brakes.
Jim, I put the brakes out of a 2000 Mustang GT on my car. They were a boltin upgrade.
Robert – nice to meet you.
Can I ask why you would bother with Kos? Seriously.
Your experience doesn’t surprise me in the least. “Right-wing hack”. What is that even supposed to mean? Two words continually misused by the nuts over there are “hack” and “fascist”. They are clueless as to the definitions, let alone the useage. Disagree with someone’s views? Just label them hack and fascist and move along. Weird.

I only read Kos if I need a good laugh. You forgot the bushnazi thing too.
I’m an Appalachian American somewhere near Nashville TN. I am also a proud adoptive daddy of a beautiful and heart changing little girl.
My hobbies are my family, my Shelties and any other rescue dog that happens across my path (anyone out there need a sweet pit bull?), being a sound tech guy at my church and a serious Sim City addiction. Ask me a dog question at AllExperts: Shetland Sheepdogs and I’ll try to help.
Or you can ask me about adoption and I’ll give you my story.
For a living I put people in new houses or change their lives with the one they own. Right now I’m wrapping up a beautiful log project for a guy in the professional Kayaking field (who knew: professional kayak?). I get to meet lots of people doing this work, it’s very rewarding and challenging.
Thanks for asking and sharing the soapbox! Stop by and see me anytime.
PCD,
Left work early only 10 hours today. I’m looking at slotted rotors I all ready have double piston stainless steel calipers just wanted to increase the braking power.
When people ask me about myself, I usually stand there like a deer in the headlights… so, with all my gumption, here goes:
No real party affiliations, but find myself agreeing most often with moderate Republicans and a handful of libertarians. And my mom.
Born 45+ years ago in Chicago, raised in Wyatt Earp’s hometown in western IL, and I’ve lived in 17 places in the last 25 years. Certifiably nuts. Almost married three times, but showed common sense once, basic human decency the other 2 times, so remained single. Share quarters with 2 cats, gleefully torment the neighbors by feeding every stray as well. I tell them I’m doing my part to prevent avian flu.
46 year old white male, happy husband, happy father, happy grandfather.
Born, raised, and still live just outside of Atlanta, GA, USA. I’ve got a touch of both “country redneck” and “city boy” in me.
I have been set free, saved, and redeemed by Jesus through grace that I neither earned nor deserve.
I am one of the few still employed by bankrupt Delta Air Lines as a IT specialist ($10 phrase for the term “geek”).
I believe Islam to be more of a cult that a true faith, and see so much of what’s going on in the Muslim world as simply the following the teachings and examples of a terrorist, rapist, theif, and murderer.
I’m still a noob at blogging, just coming up on my first anniversary, but really enjoy it. I consider myself to be a Conservative Libertarian. I care not for the neo-Socialist bed-wetting Euro-wannabe Liberals infesting so much of the American landscape, and nearly controlling the output of information to the masses. That’s why I believe so much in blogging, the only free media in America.
I only found Sister Toldjah the other day but I’ve already blogrolled her. But this is the first time I’ve told her so.
I like watching “Law & Order” and “CSI” on TV – and not much else.
I’m an American o’ Scot ancestry (by way o’ th’ Green Isle), wi’ little care fer th’ mincin’ ‘o words. Interrupt me no’ when I is at me haggis and grits. Impede no’ th’ path t’ me comfy chair nor me wee dram lest ye would be laid aboot th’ heid & shoulders wi’ truncheon stout. I knows th’ moonshine fra’ th’ dew, th’ kudzu fra’ th’ thistle, an’ joost what is worn ‘neath me kilt.
My wife (age 33) is a beautiful black woman from Tanzania and I (age 45) am a white American. Both of us are teachers. Met in Tanzania, fell in love, got married and moved to Texas. One brand-new baby boy, two dogs, three cats, and no blogs of our own.
Well I am 43 years old, single, no children. Presently living in western Illinois outside of Rock Island. (for you train fans) I work for the Department of Defense, on an island in the Mississippi river.

I don’t have a blog and I do a variety of things in my spare time. I go to a nice country church that was started by the Grand Dad of one of my best friends. My Mom is still alive but my Dad died when I was only 27 years old. It was one of the most significant times of my life. It is that moment that defines me most. I miss my dad and can not wait until I get to heaven to see him again. Always – Lorica
Oppps please correct my post to say. I will be 43 this year. I am presently only 42.
Hey Dave in CO,
I had honestly never been to Kos. The whole thing started on my personal blog when one of those guys left a bunch of comments on a few things I’d written. I was just following the links from my stat log and stumbled upon his little melt down.
I got a really good laugh ’till I read the other dorks calling for a click fraud attack on my ad banners. So, being the concerned citizen I am, I forwarded all the information to Google.
Daily Kos is like a playground of really pissed off children …
I’m Jay currently living in Melbourne, Florida. I’m a Lt Col in the USAF with a bit over 20 years in service. Conservative Christian, married with two kids. We homeschool–well, my wife does the vast majority of that work! Originally from Indiana, enjoying Florida winters much more. Have been visiting ST blog for a few months now. I forget who linked to you on that first visit, but glad they did. Thanks for your site!
I’m not like Big Bang Hunter. Heard he’s sexy. I’m fat, old and out of shape. You can find me in the classifieds under “Come get me, free but for the haulin’ fee”. Classified, but I can say I’m enjoying teaching kids a thing or two about wrestling and english in Japan. We members (that’s one E isn’t it Dad- I mean Big Bang) of the hunter family can’t be called hunters, if we give it up just for the askin’, now can we!
BTW: How do you get those little yeller fellers to jump onto the page? See ya in the funny pages…..
Hi, PCD:
Jack, aren’t you a big fan of the “Trancer” movies with Tim Thomerson as Jack Deth?
I’m a fan of B-Movies in general and those of Roger Corman in particular.
I’ve always thought that Tim Thomerson is a very good, yet under rated Character Actor, with the ability to make a character his very own.
Budget, Style and “Bang For Your Buck” wise. I’ll put “Trancers” up against “Terminator” and its Original B&W, “Outer Limits” Father, “The Demon With A Glass Hand” with Robert Culp, Harlan Ellison’s script and the Bradbury Building any day of the week.
Jack.
Baklava, I just went back to read your mini-bio. I did a monster home improvement about 15 years ago. I threw my self out. My wife loves it.
I’m still chucklin’ about your comment to sanity, exactly what I said, when I read your comment! Too funny! I wonder since “a bit” was that, what pray tell is a novel?
Baklava, it doesn’t drag or click. The little buggers just lay there laughin’ at me. Reminds me of my first wife.
forest hunter, try double clicking. You know, like a double tap target shooting.
There is someone out there this morning!

Jack, Remember Tim in the Mel Gibson movie, “Air America” or whatever about Mel as a CIA pilot in Cambodia?
I like B-Movies myself. I’m still trying to get a capy of “Flap” with Anthony Quinn. I figure if Quinn’s character rides a horse named, H-Bomb, it has got to be funny if not a candidate for a MST3K show.
Jim, Get cross drilled and slotted rotors. But don’t really stand on the brakes for long periods and the rotors will work well for you.
PCD, I have read that cross drilled rotors have a tendency to crack around the holes when they are used on the street. They are great for racing because pads and rotors are replaced regularly but for street I would like to get about 50000 out of a set of pads and rotors. So it’s recommended to just use slotted rotors for street use. What year is your truck and what CID engine are you going to stuff in it?
If you haven’t used e-bay for some auto parts you need to check it out. I have bought some interior parts and have received used parts in excellent condition for less than half price. Check out tirerack.com I replaced all four tires cheaper that any other tire store around this area.
Jim,
I’m way ahead of you on the parts. I use eBay when I have time. I also use http://www.car-part.com, a Ford dealer our Super Coupe club has a discount with, and Advance Auto, where I get an employee discount. Also, I get a few deals from the boards at http://www.tccoa.com.
Jim, the truck is a future project. Got to finish the bird first.
Hi, PCD:
Jack, Remember Tim in the Mel Gibson movie, “Air America” or whatever about Mel as a CIA pilot in Cambodia?
I remember Tim very well from “Air America” and his role in “Uncommon Valor” opposite Gene Hackman and Fred Ward. He’s one of the last graduates of the Robert Mitchum “Tough Guy” school of acting.
One of his best roles was in “Cherry 2000″, a Classic B-Movie. Tim’s looks like he’s been around the block a few times, and he uses it to make whatever he’s in better.
Jack.
We describe ourself as much how we wish others to see us, as we do who we really are. In honestly answering the question I have to strip away that to a degree and try to see what I am as much as who.
I am many things. The things I am the most proud of are:
a father.
a veteran
a guitar player
a writer
a computer technician
a dreamer
politcally aware
My less proud list will remain mine for now.
Suffice to say that the things I listed about tend to color my world voew more then others. I am very sesntive to military issues, and to abuse towards chilfren. Music is my greatest passion, but not generally worthy of writing about, so instead I write about politics and the craziness that seems to rule our lives.
I think if the various politicians would drop their rhetoric and form an impromptu band we would have less trouble.
I dream of things less common. A world where common sense is loved more the partisan rhetoric. where the media is determined to tell the whole story, not just the story they think will sell. Where truth is valued above expediency. Where we once again are governed by statesman, not politicians.
And a government that truly serves the will of the poeple, not the needs of reelection.
Its a big dream I know. But as long as peoiple care enough to talk and blog about it, it can happen.
I am an optimist too.

Bravo
Happily married 45-year old software developer in Garland, Texas. Evangelical Christian and conservative.
OK, trying again, the last attempt failed.
ST has my blog listed in a column on the left…although the right would be more accurate. I’ve been straying away from political commentary of late, with occasional visits still occurring.
Why camojack? My biker buds dubbed me “Camo” because of my predilection for wearing camo pants, which I started doing in the Army; the name stuck, and was also embraced by my hiker friends. So be it. Family and friends call me Jack.
I was born and raised in Philly, but live in it’s suburbs nowadays. In between, I lived in: NH, NY, TX, CA, AL & HI.
For my primary source of income, I turn wrenches on the V-22 “Osprey” at Boeing’s Philadelphia facility. I’ve also got a number of sidelines I pursue sporadically.
OK, that’ll do for now, methinks…
Common sense-before it’s not. What a concept! Don’t tell the dems, or anybody else. Before ya know it, Honor, Respect and reality based logic will be required in schools and criminals deserving of the penalty, will be shot. In some cases, on the spot. Other types of criminals will be put to work. There’s no shortage of projects……that’s a good start for some of the issues.
I’ve spoken at length regarding the disrespect of well, just about everything and how the shortcuts are actually throats cut, metaphorically speaking.
I better not hijack the thread, big Sister’ll come round with a big stick……..Great idea, Karl. Where do you hail from, if I might ask?

ST, I hope you realize that there will be a quiz on the information contained in this comment section. You know, to make sure you learned the material. Here are some example questions:
Who is 49, a tinker with his T-Bird and drives it daily?
Who is a self-described “highly opinionated individual” and has no use for libbers?
Who is the ‘geechee’ girl who has azaleas in her yard?
The test won’t be open book either. I hope you use this weekend well studying your readers!
Well, I’ve never posted but I visit the site as often as possible. I’m 21, from Ohio and a die-hard Republican (worked for John Boehner’s re-election committee 3 times + psyched that he’s the new Majority Leader!) I’m in the US Air Force, stationed in Tucson, Az, I’m a Senior Airman, been in three years, and I test for Staff Sergeant soon (wish me luck!). And regardless of what wackos like Cindy Sheehan say I’m proud to serve our country. I haven’t been overseas yet (I’m a mechanic in a pilot training unit) but I’m more than willing to. What we are doing in Iraq is something I strongly support, and I really appreciate all the support we in the military get from all the wonderful people out there like you. Thanks!
Quiet, blogagog! Sheesh! I know I’m not gonna be studying!
I’m 50, originally from Pennsylvania, now in Florida by way of the West Coast.
I’m a writer, though I pay the bills by working Maintenance in a Wal-Mart, here in Florida. I’m a Christian member of the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy, and I voted for Ronald Wilson Reagan twice!
I believe in Liberty and M&Ms, the US Constitution and the art of Maxfield Parrish, and M&Ms. Did I mention M&Ms?
I visit Sister Toldjah every day, and rarely get in trouble here.
Mr. Bell, Good Luck and Blessing on your test.
Hey, 41 yrs old, living in Tampa. Currently looking for work. Republican. Enjoy watching Stargate and Monk. Came across your blog a few weeks ago. Great stuff. You’re intelligent and cute, wow. I used to go up to NC when I was a kid, to visit relatives who lived in a little town called Tryon.
Kevin/blogagog: “The test won’t be open book either. I hope you use this weekend well studying your readers!

ST: Test?? Oh no …they didn’t tell me I’d have to wear my thinking cap today!
To everyone participating in this thread: a huge thank you for telling us a little bit about you as well as the kind thoughts expressed towards your humble blogstress. Always much appreciated
