Missin’ President Reagan

Posted by: ST on March 8, 2006 at 11:36 pm

Here's to you, Mr. President I just got done blogging at B4B about how USSC Chief Justice John Roberts’ speech today at the Reagan Presidential Library has me a little nostalgic this evening about the Gipper.

Every once in while – especially during some of the heavier bickering back and forth between the parties, and with the lack of leadership shown from some prominent Republicans these days, I think about President Reagan and what an inspiration he was not just to conservatives, but to everyone. His average approval rating while in office was 57%. When he left office, he was at 64%. Not bad for a guy who the press routinely implied was a dumb cowboy!

I miss his humor, his strength, his courage, his wisdom, and his incredible speeches. Plainly put: I just miss him.

Ya know I wasn’t impressed when he ran, but I disliked Carter so much I voted for him.

And you know he grew on me. I got to appreciate his wit and his steadfastness.

I was sorry to see his decline and and his death was a sad passing.

He was able to do more then any other president in recent history, and he will be the standard against presidents for a long time.

I was super pleased to be able to visit the library in simi valley this past summer for an afternoon. It’s really beautiful country, and the facility is super well done

the gipper now has a great view! When the youngish trees grow in some (garden) it will truly be something else, worthy of a visit.

How I long for the return of the Reagan years. Not only was Reagan a great president, but back then we had a halfway rational Democratic party to deal with, instead of the insane, far left, BDS plagued wankers we have now.

During the Carter years Americans pride in their country had fallen to probably some of its lowest levels. :(
After Ronald Reagan took office the mood in America started to change from his inaugural speech the pride in America started flowing back from east coast to west coast. Speech after speech not only Americans felt good about our country again but others in the world could see that we meant what we said and our pride was shining through. **==
Just ask the former leaders of the Soviet Union ask the East Germans ask the peoples of the former satellite states of the USSR.:-j

Ray-gun was directly responsibility for the price we are all paying in deaths and treasure in the Middle East today. His ham-handed policy in support of Israel at the expense of the Arab Nation may have been one element in deciding to crash airplanes into the Towers. Everyone in power over the last 58 years in America has blood on their hands. Peace

Reagan really wasn’t heavy handed with anyone but Lybia and Lebanon and look at those two countries today, both wanting to become democracies. Seems to me he was 25 years ahead of himself, but so many posting here already know this. He was such a genius. Such an incredible man. Don’t believe me, just ask Nancy. A man’s greatness should always be judged by the longevity and happiness of his marriage and wife. There truly is no other way to judge a man’s greatness. – Lorica

  11. No worries, benning. We all have our moments >:d<

The time has come to take on the largest Socialist boondoggle in the government. The Defense Department. $450 billion plus $100 billion off the books for Iraq, in fiscal 2006 is far too much money for this entitlement program. The defense budget should be cut by 50%. Peacer

  14. Lorica says:

Hell I have been thinking it needs to be raised 50 percent Steve. This way we can afford to make better weapons systems. Also really wouldn’t the Defense department be more facists?? Seems to me that would be closer to the mark.

I would be all for your suggestion as long as you peaceniks would promise to fend for yourselves. We could put you like in California, since there are already so many there. Then when, insert any given country, comes to take you over, you can do whatever and we could care less. That would work. Good Luck Steve, cause your gonna need it. – Lorica

…RONALDUS MAXIMUS was absolutely the right person in the right place at the right time in our nation’s history.

RIP, old friend. You earned it.
(but we’ll be missin’ you just the same)
