PCD, I’m back in the world for a few months. Do you either you or Jim need a hand?

PCD, Wow a 125 year old house built a few years after the War Between the States I would love to restore an old home like that but my wife would have an anxiety attack with “Things in Progress” and the dust. After I install our wood floor I’ll let you know how easy or hard it is to work with.

Baklava, The floor tiles in our kitchen are 12″ x 12″ and I laid them down diagonally it makes cutting around doorways and corners interesting and I have to replace a few as they are hollow under them and cracking. I must have done something wrong when mixing the mortar or I have been told that sometimes the mortar doesn’t adhere to the concrete floor. Either way its very labor intensive maybe with practice it gets easier. I bought a diamond bit for my dremel tool for grinding out the grout or I have an air driven high speed grinder. I’ll see which one works better. Then scrape or grind down the high spots and reinstall the tiles.

Me: I love it. I must be sick. This will be my 4th tiling job.

I did the hardwood floor (the fake stuff). It was fairly easy book took the better part of a day. The trick with the stuff if you are going lenghwise is to get about 4 people’s hands because then you can have the whole row laid in real easy each time you are ready for a row.

(note for anyone reading that who may be PC: that is not to say that ALL women don’t do heavy work around the house!)

Just replaced a toilet it was builders grade and didn’t flush worth a damn, upgraded to a Kolher but before I could install it I had to replace the flange it had two cracks in it and it just took time too break it out in pieces. But once installed and leveled it’s much quitter and if it works like the one in the master bath (Which I installed a year ago) no more problems stopping up.

Also trying to keep the heat out of the attic this summer so I installed turbine roof vents it was fun on a 12-12 roof pitch one slip and you can’t stop. I just keep saying it’s not the fall that hurts it’s that sudden stop.

Now my wife wants a hardwood floor installed it a high traffic area its about 6ft wide and about 10ft long with a hallway leading to the laundry room. From what I have read and looked at it doesn’t look as hard as tile I should start that in about two weeks.

This week I went and got tile for my kids bathroom for $40 from Restore as opposed to $145 from Home Depot. Tiling is fun to me. Immediate results and long lasting durability as well as the good looks.

I’ve already pulled out the toilet and linoleum and scraped the floor and am ready to cut the tile the next two nights. Hopefully I can mortar them to the floor Thursday and grout on Friday so that my kids can see a wonderfully new bathroom floor.

If someone took a video camera into my home to make a show out of it… they’d be bored silly. I love how they’ve made those shows interesting. The personalities are funny and they complete a project in 30 – 60 minutes.
