Another gorgeous Saturday

Posted by: ST on April 15, 2006 at 9:53 am

Got some more shopping to do today – my weekends the last few weeks have seen me occupied with getting everything just perfect in my house for my upcoming housewarming, which is next weekend. I’ve still got a few things to pick up today, and then I’ve got a much-needed visit to the salon scheduled this afternoon, so blogging will be light til tonight. Via Memeorandum, I see that there are a some blog-worthy stories out there, and I’ll get to some of them later this evening.

Consider this an open thread :)

    Has anyone heard of Captain Brian Chontosh USMC, latest recipient of the Navy Cross?

    Read about the Secure America Pledge, a common sense look at immigration policy.

    Is this war-profiteering? Halliburton, a Texas based energy company, said it’s subsidiary Kellogg, Brown and Root, generates about 50% of it’s revenues from Iraq war related contracts. It also said that KBR’s profit doubled in 2005 from 2004 levels. In addition Halliburton was making a $500 million PO as soon as Shotgun Dick Cheney divests himself of all securities ownership. Peace

    Forest hunter,

    There was a great post at Blue Star Chronicles on Cpt. Chontosh. Here.

  5. - So what would you be happy with Steve. If companies and their employees. people just like yourself, would go over to the war zone in Iraq and put their lives on the line and work for free.

    - So when are you going to pack your bags and volunteer Steve(FN)?. The world is waiting for your egalitarian actions, and heres your perfect chance to put all those wonderful ideas of yours into practice. Take a murdering Jihadist thug to lunch, but don’t lose your head over it.

    - Just another idiotic statement from the fantasy world of the left.

    - Bang **==

    Fact is (I know, they burrrrn!), Halliburton loses money every day KBR is in Iraq. Looting, theft, sabotage, equipment costs, hazard pay and other transportation problems drive the cost of doing business through the roof, and they don’t make that much on government contracts. Sorry to burst your little bubble, but in the real world, profits are offset by costs. Halliburton’s losses were at the two billion mark by September 2003, and the company posted a $947 million loss in the 4th quarter of 2003. Their net loss for the 3rd quarter of 2004 was only $44 million, though, so maybe that’s where you get your fantasies of wild profits. By the way, KBR’s revenue for the third quarter of 2005 was $2.5 billion, a 7% decrease compared to
    the third quarter of 2004.

    >as soon as Shotgun Dick Cheney divests himself of
    >all securities ownership

    Still peddling lies about Cheney and Haliburton? And what a childish nickname. Don’t your mommies make you play outside on nice Saturdays?

  7. steve says:

    Shotgun Dick Cheney was not the CEO of Halliburton before he chose himself as the Vice-President? I get my “fantasies” about KBR’s profit from their filings with the federal government. It’s too bad that KBR’s revenues fell, but that still doesn’t negate the fact that 50% of their revenues come from Iraqi war contracts. What do you suppose their revenues would be if there was no war in Iraq? War profiteers. Bang, I’ve done my time, how about you? Peace

  8. - Sounds like you need to go back and do it again Steve, because apparently you didn’t learn a damn thing.

    - Bang **==

  9. steve says:

    I learned that Christ(Peace) was right and that war was the anti-Christ. I also learned that anyone who worships at the alter of war is in full support of the anti-Christ. Bang,what did you learn or weren’t you ever in? Peace

  10. Severian says:

    That’s our steve for you, sharp as a tack and twice as flat headed, and damned pleased with himself because of it. He displays one of the most common attitudes that makes the Left so annoying, treating willful ignorance as a virtue. An inability to distiuguish fantasy from reality. And a total lack of responsibility. He can’t understand the difference between revenue and profit, to him, if you lose money on every sale, you make it up by selling even more of them!

    :o)

    If the Lord doesn’t allow pathological liars in Paradise, ol’ steve is going to need some asbestos undergarments! peas and carrots

  12. steve says:

    Dave, don’t judge, lest you be judged; especially at Easter. Severian, you make reality up as you go along, we all do. Peace

  13. Dave in CO says:

    steve, each and every post of yours on this blog is judgemental. Your hypocracy is astonishing. peas and carrots

  14. steve says:

    It’s just too easy: Yes,Dave they are, the difference is that mine are informed judgements. Peace

  15. steve says:

    I’m sorry, the devil made me do it. Peace
