John Murtha is being awarded the JFK Center’s Profile in Courage award.

    That’s just sick.

Interesting column by George Will. The subject of Will’s column is Peter Beinart is “editor at large of the liberal New Republic magazine” (Will’s words).

For once Will uses a lot of words to say very little. Will enthuses that this may signal the return of liberalism to it anti-totalitarian roots, but nothing in his column supports this. Beinart is worried that the Howard Dean and the Deaniacs may do to the Democrats what McGovern did to them in the 70s.

The problem is that Beinart’s own assessment of the situation in Iraq is indistinguishable from Howard Dean’s, reflecting (perhaps unconsciously) the degree to which Democrats must genuflect to the anti-Bush jihadists in the party in order to gain a hearing at all. Far from raising the flag of anti-totalitarianism, Beinart seems resigned to terrorist-supporting tyrants like Saddam. This is bold new thinking?

In the end, I suspect that Beinart and others like him will simply be swallowed by the Democratic party’s al Qaeda wing in the same way most of his predecessors were by McGovern – without a fight. “Retreat and defeat” is not just a motto – it is the DNA of the Democratic Party.

Just returned from the VA. Another shot of axle grease in the knee and I’m good to go.

Doc told me to stay off my knees and it was all I could do to say nothing. My kids would’a been proud.

I’m blogging about simple respect for guest speakers, though it seems the concept of respect may be beyond the grasp of some.

    Go check it out!

And thanks Sister Toldjah for the thread!

On another note theres this about the Duke case in case you missed it.

    - On H&C they reviewed the first feedback from the DA’s notes he finally turned over to the defense. Its so screwed its incredible. All I can say is Nifong is toast if this information holds up.

    - No Toxology report

    - You can shift over the med exam, but anyway you cut it, no signs of rape

    - Told the two hospitals she was raped. Denied she was raped to any of the cops until about interview 4.

    - First 20, then 6, then 3.

    - Her two drivers talking about sex with her and driving her to meets at least 5 times the nights before.

    - Theres more but it just goes on and on in the same vein. I think if I wanted to invent an accusing witness that would be a defense teams dream, I couldn’t do as good a job.

    - Nifong has a better chance at parlaying the State lottery, 15 “only nets” from half court, and home coming queen, all in the same evening. Almost like he got his law degree from a package of twinkies.

    - Nobody can see any reason at this point for him not to just dismiss. He can’t have anything else, or if he does the judge is going to have his scalp.

    - Bang **==
