It’s not nice to get my hopes up like that ST, not nice at all….
Sorry guys

Need a collage(sp) of the some of our favorite senators, hollywierds, and MSM tlaking heads….
and underneath have it say…..
STUCK ON STUPID!
Once, ALONG time ago, Dad, myself, and my two brothers were all out huntin’. We were hunting in the hills outside of Harper’s Ferry, IA. Well Dad saw this owl in the trees ahead on the trail, and just kept his mouth shut about it. As we passed under it, the owl got scared and “SCREECHED” so loud I almost pee’d my pants. LOL
It scared me so bad. Dad just laughed at me and my little brother cause he thought were we being attacked by some horror movie monster. I can tell you this, there is a very good reason it is called a Screech Owl.
Always – Lorica
I still want a t-shirt with pictures of some prominent “libs” on it saying:
Better Sharia than Republican
- Heh… Sweet ST is pointedly ignoring my fiendish T-Shirt campaign… but I’ll keep at it… *chuckle*
- BTW – the bird for December, my birth month, looked like he’d just stuck his tail in a light socket!

Moving Bang’s post from another thread to this open thread. –ST

Ok folks – Its Friday once again, and you know what that means kiddies. Since ST didn’t give us one of the “Bak gets to go nutz open threads” we’ll temp hijack this one and do the weekly (drum roll….. bbbbrbrrrrrrrrrrrrr Tish!)
- PEOPLE DIFFERENT THAN US: NEWS OF THE WEIRD -
Our government in action:
Apathy apathy, everywhere you look – New York state officials proposed a pilot program which would allow parolees to fill out a questionaire, in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the Parole officers on their staffs. The main thrust of the questions focused on whether the parolees felt their PO’s “cared” enough about their progress overcoming problems and adjusting to society again. The program was cancelled after just two months. The reason: The parolees didn’t seem to care enough to respond.
Put this in your pot and smoke it – The board of zoning appeals in Anderson township, Ohio, turned down a couples request for a permit to build a cedar fence around the parimeter of their back yard., even though it was supported by neighbors and another municiple agency. According to a report in the Cincinnati Enquirer the angry couple, citing the decision as “arbitrary”, set up 25 donated toilets as flower pots instead. Since the porcelein fixtures are classified as “decorations” rather than construction, theres nothing the board can do about it. (Which leads one to ask; is tidey bowl harmful to petunias, and will the couple get advertising royalties from Furguson or American Beauty corp?)
Just going with the flow – The newly installed municiple water system in the Florida Keys town of Islamorada was scheduled to go on line this month, but the real test will come shortly after startup if the town cannot hook up enough residents to allow full system efficient flow operation. The town leaders fallback position is to buy enough out-of-town sewage from nearby cities to boost the weak flow. (We wonder how the Ad will read; “We pay top dollar for your left overs?”)
Now we’re safe? Or not. – In order to free up soldiers for the war zone, the Army hires contractors to man the gates on 57 domestic base installations, including some of the largest in the country, such as Fort Bragg and West Point. But in April the Government Accountability Office, GAO, announced that despite issuing three seperate warnings, some of the contractors continue to hire an alarming number of convicted felons and parolee’s for critical security positions. The GAO people say they are planning a crackdown if things don’t improve.(Well hell. whats wrong with hiring people with lots of experience with law enforcement?)
Rising to your level of competence – Nashville’s The Tennessean newspaper revealed that in April a man still serving time for hiring a man to kill his wife was put in charge of the purchasing office of the state’s emergency management. Inmate Daniel Erickson was participating in a rehibilitation program intended to help prisoners find work when they finish their time in jail, and was doing such a good job that agency officials promoted him, apparently without checking his background. Embarrassed Officials quickly moved him “under proper monitoring”, where he continues to do a good job in a somewhat less critical position, that of purchasing agent for prison kitchen appliances and foodstuffs. (Hey why not. Hes obviously good with emergencies.)
The countinuing campaign to make everything perfect:
Fake, but accurate – Prosecuters in Dresden, Germany, charged Petra Kujau, 47, with fraud recently for selling at least 500 fake paintings of such artists as Picasso and Van Gogh. However, the paintings were always clearly marked as “reproductions”, according to the Times of London dispatch, and their sale was only a crime because Ms. Kujau sold them as works of her great uncle Konrad, who had a world wide reputation as a master faker. Petra was charged with duping collectors into thinking they were buying genuine original Kujau classic fakes. (It seems even fakes aren’t real anymore.)
We’ve heard this song before – In April the organization “Gymnastics Australia” ordered cheerleader teams to supply less revealing uniforms, with among other things, “no bare midriffs”. The change was not based on any “indecency” ideas, but on organization fears that the exhibiting too-sveldt cheerleaders bodies would make overweight girls with eating disorders “feel bad”. (Didn’t we already cover this way back with I dream of Jeanie’s belly button?)
Less competant People, unsure on the concept:
Rocking in the fast lane – In Red Deer, Alberta, in April, Jesse Maggrah, 20, listening on his Ipod earphones to heavy-metal rock music while walking on the Canadian Pacific Railroad tracks, was hit from behimd by a train moving at about 30 mph, but survived with broken ribs and various minor scrapes and bruises. In his hopsital bed Maggrah said he remembered Metalicca hitting a series of screeching high notes, and then everything went black. When He woke up along the side of the tracks immediately after he said the first thing he thought was “Holy crap, dude, youi just got hit by a mean guitar riff and a train at the same time. Rad. Maybe the metal gods were smiling down on me and didn’t want one of their true warriors to die on them”. (Well ok “dude”. But just the same I think I’d look for a better place for your musical enjoyment.)
Maybe He could try small animals next – Benjamin Thornton, 20, was charged with impersonating a police officer and attempted kidnapping in Portland, Texas, in April, after he alledgedly confessed that he had tried all sorts of ruses to molest adolescent girls more than 100 times, “all unsucessfully”. In the latest case, he tried to convince a 9 year old girl that the toy she had could only be held “by a policeman” when she was waiting for a school bus. The girl told him that was just silly and to “get away from me before I call a real policeman”. So far the hapless pervert can’t seem to find anyone more gullible than he is. (Makes you wonder just what kind of sexual misfits the schools are turning out these days.)
How about just a smack on each wrist instead – The annual for-real crucifixion rituals in San Perdo Cutud, Phillipines, took place again this year on Easter, with at least 9 martyrs allowing themselves to be nailed to the proverbial crosses. Among those scheduled was a Scottish media personality, no doubt looking to cop some priceless publicity. Dominick Diamond, a lapsed Catholic, publicly vowed to endure the seminole unpleasentness by way of “respiritualizing” himself. However when the appointed hour came for the cross ascention, Diamond demured, kneeling instead, praying profusely, and crying so hard he was taken away in an ambulance to the jeers of the assembled onlookers. (Gee, he missed his chance to really nail his redemption.)
Prodigies we’re glad we don’t live next door too – Terry Durham of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has been preaching since he was the tender age of 4, and now at age 8, in his white cotton suit, and alligator shoes, holds forth at the True Gospel Deliverance Ministry church and elsewhere throughout the state. Young master Durham, described in a South Florida Sun-Sentinal profile, ends all his sermons by kicking his leg high in the air and wailing, “The Lord will make you feel good, and who am I?, I am Doctor Feel Good, soldier of the Lord!” (If its all the same to you, I think I’ll just wait in the car.)

- If you’re still around Sistah, tell us you’re doing better…..

I’m doing fine, thanks for asking, Bang. Yesterday I was sluggish but today I felt more like myself than I have all week.
One of the things I miss the most as a result of having to change around what I eat and drink is the fact that I can’t drink alcohol right now, which means no ‘winding down the evening’ glass of wine.
It’s been a long week, so I’m taking it easy tonight.
- Good to hear you’re doing better. About the wine thing. Look at the bright side. You just eliminated one of your gaggle of admirers “tactics”… *chuckle*
- Anyway….get really really gooderer soon…

Bang,
Dirty Harry uses a S&W .44 Magnum. I prefer a .475Linebaugh in a Freedom Arms 757.
Yeh….I know PCD…But nobody but us ex mil types would know what a .44 S&W was, much less a .475 or a 50 Cal. S&W X-frame. So I generally stick with the more widely known .375.
- Bang
Call me an old fashioned tradtionalist, but for handguns I still prefer the .45 ACP in the tradtional Colt M1911A1 Govt Model, or a close clone (some of the small frame 1911 clones for carry are quite nice).
For long guns, I still prefer the .308 but for varmits and plinking .223 is nice and easy to shoot. I’d never have picked it for a service rifle round though, too lightweight.
9 mm, pah!
WASHINGTON – Military investigators probing the deaths last November of about two dozen Iraqi civilians have evidence that points toward unprovoked murders by Marines, a senior defense official said Friday. Rest of the story here.
- Either AP is trying to get ahead of the news cycle, and “guess” the outcome, or certain factions of DoD are still trying to “get Bush”. The good old boy club is still bitter over the widespread changes that Rumsfeld installed against their wishes. More patriotism.
- Bang
Bang,
.375 is a “Big Bore” Winchester. My brother has one. I’ll stick to a .30-30 with “Satan loads”.
.357 is the standard Magnum. The non-gunners don’t know that .38Special and .357 use the same slugs. You just can’t use a .357 in a .38Special. The gun may blow up in your hand.
I’m in line to get my dad’s Browning A1 12 GA. Like my car, I’ll make a few mods to it that he didn’t do already. Nothing quiets down a crowd like a shotgun.
- Actually PCD, they make a .375 S&W, along with a .4, .44, .5, and its rumored they experimented with a .6 and .7 before the regs limited things to a .5 . Of course you’d practically need a bench vise to fire a .7 . I’ve also heard that some people have experimented with 500 grain loads in the 50 Cal, which gives it a 3600 ft lb muzzle energy, but would probably be all but impossible to aim reliably. I see they’re still making magnum versions of the desert fox, in up to 0.670 (14 inch barrel) if you can find one. But you’re right, I ment to say .357 when talking to normal people.
