As you stated, this means that the race is effectively between the two Ls. CT is pretty much not going to send a Republican to the Senate. Those Republicans who won't vote for Schlesinger will move over and vote for Joe. The Dems don't want to publically own up to the fact that they really believe that Lieberman is returning to the Senate, especially since he won't have a big "D" behind his name. Tough!
