*Note: I will update this post throughout the evening*
Polls closed at 6pm for the Eastern parts of Kentucky and Indiana. These are two states that John Fund noted had several important GOP incumbent House races.
—-
KY: Republican Rep. Anne Northup is trying to hold on to her 3rd district seat against challenger John Yarmuth. Follow the returns as they come in here. It looks like the page auto-refreshes every minute, so you’ll be kept up to date on the latest results of that race.
KY: It’s Republican Rep. Geoff Davis versus former Democratic Rep. Ken Lucas in a battle for Kentucky’s 4th district. Check here for the latest returns on that race.
IN: Republican Rep. Chris Chocola hopes to retain his District 2 seat – this is a seat we need to retain. Results are rolling in here. Refresh the page to see newer results as they come in.
—-
Fox News Channel is broadcasting results as they come in.
—-
KY: Here’s a better link for the Northup race. The other one I provided is not currently updating. Also, here’s another link for the Davis/Lucas race. Not sure if those auto-refresh, so to be safe, refresh those to see the most current results.
—-
VA: FoxNews is showing Senator George Allen’s numbers are looking good early on. I’m trying to find a site that has updated numbers on that race.
VA Update: Here’s a site for Allen/Webb election returns. It’s CLOSE. May have to refresh that one for current updates, which are at this point more current than what Fox is reporting.
—-
KY: ST reader Mwalimu Daudi provides an alternative Northup link. The WHAS link is working fine so far and is on par with this one, so keep ‘em both bookmarked in case one goes down.
—-
VA: Whew! Watching the Allen/Webb race is agonizing! Webb was slightly ahead a few minutes ago, now Allen has moved into the lead.
—-
KY: I’m starting to get nervous about the Northrup race. She’s trailing by about 3,500 votes with 76% of the precincts reporting.
—-
IN: Fox News is calling one Democratic House gain: Ellsworth over Hostettler in the 8th district.
—-
TN: Fox is reporting some good numbers for Corker over Ford. I’m looking for a site that has some updated numbers on them. Update: Here’s a site for Corker/Ford numbers. Refresh for updates.
—-
PA: Fox is calling the PA Senate race for Casey, which would be a Democratic pick up.
VA: Senator Allen is leading by about 33,000 votes with a little over 50% precincts reporting.
NJ: This one’s too early to call, I think, but Fox is calling the NJ Senate race (Menendez) as a hold for Dems.
—-
IN: Things are not looking good for Chocola.
—-
Fox is showing a speech by Sen. Chuck Schumer. Bleh.
—-
OH: Fox is projecting a Dem Senate gain in Ohio: Sherrod Brown over Mike DeWine.
—-
NJ: Here’s a link to follow the NJ Senate race. I find it strange that so many nets have called it for Menendez, but what do I know?
—-
MO: Here’s a link for returns coming in on Amendment 2. Also, here’s a page for returns on the McCaskill/Talent race.
—-
NJ: Ok – Menendez is starting to pull ahead of Kean. He’s up by about 30K votes.
KY: We’re on track to lose a House seat in KY: Anne Northup’s. 95% reporting, and Yarmuth is up by 7,000 votes.
—-
Dean is still on Fox?
—-
NY: Fox is calling the Governor’s race there for the Democrat (forgot his name at the moment).
OH: Fox is calling the Governor’s race there for Democrats (Strickland).
—-
MD: Here’s a link for Steele/Cardin returns (thanks to ST reader Chris).
VA: George Allen is ahead of Webb by about 34,000 votes with 74% reporting.
TN: Corker is currently leading Ford by about 54,000 votes with 9% reporting.
—-
MD: Hot Air has some updates, including one that says MSNBC is saying the election is “over” for Michael Steele. Hmmm.
FL: Republican Joe Negron, Foley’s replacement in Florida’s 16th district, is only slightly behind Democrat Tim Mahoney, with 49% reporting.
—-
MO: Senator Jim Talent is slightly ahead of demagogue Claire McCaskill by a little less than 4,000 votes, with just under 200 of over 3,000 precincts reporting. The “NO” vote on Amendment 2 is ahead by 3,000 votes.
—-
IN: Fox and several other news outlets are calling the District 2 seat for the Democrat Joe Donnelly. That will be a House pickup.
Here’s a reminder of what John Fund said about Indiana:
In Indiana, three GOP House incumbents have been trailing their Democratic challengers in October polls, albeit with survey samples so small the margin of error is large. Watch Rep. Mike Sodrel in the Ninth District. If he wins, it will mean it’s unlikely Republicans will face a huge Democratic wave and lose 30 seats or more. If Rep. Chris Chocola in the Second District should survive, the GOP may wind up losing 20 seats or fewer. If Rep. John Hostettler also comes home to victory in the Eighth District, there is a good chance the GOP will retain its House majority. Indiana’s Senate race isn’t competitive; Republican Dick Lugar will easily win a sixth term.
Chocola and Hostettler have lost.
—-
RI: Fox is calling RI a Senate pickup for Dems (Whitehouse over Chafee). That’s 3 Dem pickups in the Senate.
—-
CT: No surprise – most major nets are calling CT for Lieberman.
—-
VA: The nets are calling the MD governor race for Democrat O’Malley over incumbent Ehrlich, which is somewhat of a surprise.
MO: Talent leads over McCaskill by about 16,000 votes, with 9% reporting.
—-
VA: Nailbiter in VA: Allen is only ahead by less than 3,000 votes, with 87% reporting. ![]()
TN: Corker is ahead by 30,000 votes with 48% reporting.
—-
VA: WOW – Allen is now ahead of Webb by 27K votes, with 90% reporting.
—-
IN: Fox is calling the 9th district for Rep. Sodrel’s Democratic opponent Baron Hill.
CT: Fox is calling CT’s district 5 for the Democratic challenge (Johnson). A pickup for Dems.
We’re getting killed this evening. Our best hope is to hold on to the Senate by 1 or 2.
—-
PA: Fox is calling another House seat for Dems: the 10th district (They are predicting a Rep. Sherwood loss). This is huge, as PA’s 10th district is strongly Republican, according to RCP.
—-
TN: Corker’s looking good: ahead by 70K votes with 60% reporting.
MO: So far so good in MO: Talent leads McCaskill by 36K votes, with 19% reporting. Still too close to call. The NO votes on Amendment 2 are up by 27K votes.
PA: Fox is reporting that Santorum has called Casey to congratulate him.
—-
Fox just called two more Northeast House races for Democrat challengers. I can’t remember the states as I was taking a powder room break when the announcment was made ![]()
—-
IN: Fox just called Souder’s seat a hold for Republicans.
—-
MD: It ain’t ovah til it’s ovah: the nets may have called MD for Cardin already, but the latest returns coming out of MD show Steele ahead by 104 3,500 votes – 35% reporting.
MO/TN: Dunno about you guys, but I’m starting to feel good about the Talent race and Corker race. In fact, I think in the next thirty minutes the nets should call TN for Corker, as right now 75% precincts are reporting and Corker has a 66K vote lead.
MD: With 40% precincts reporting, Steele is now up by 14,000 votes.
—-
NY: Fox is projecting Reynolds will hold on to his 26th district seat.
—
Prepare. Dems need one more gain to control the House.
—
MD: Fox is reporting “The Post” has retracted its projection that Cardin will win. Don’t know if he was talking about the WaPo or NYPost.
—-
VA: Allen’s up by about 12K votes, with almost 97% reporting. Webb is down by less than 1%, and if he ‘loses’ by that margin or less, he can request a recount.
VA: Voter turnout in VA is near 50%. That is amazing.
—-
The Dems now officially have control of the House with the pickup of DeLay’s seat in TX.
—-
MD: The Governor’s race has been called for O’Malley, but here’s another one that is not over til it’s over: Ehrlich is a ahead (47% reporting) by 35,000 votes.
—-
VA: Near 98% reporting, and Allen’s lead is slim: 7,000 5,000 votes.
—-
TN: When will they call TN for Corker?
—-
MD: Gov. Ehrlich is up by 41K votes with 50% reporting.
—-
MD: Steele is now trailing Cardin by 17,000 votes – 57% reporting, Ehrlich is ahead of O’Malley by 4K votes.
—-
VA: 3,000 votes separate Allen from Webb – 98% reporting. I have a feeling we won’t know the winner of that one for a couple of days.
FL: Fox is calling Florida’s 16th district for Democrats. Negron lost it, but not by much.
—-
VA: Webb has just moved ahead of Allen, with 99% reporting, by less than 2,500 votes.
—-
MD: Cardin is surging ahead of Steele 514,426 to 459,950, 67% reporting. O’Malley up by 7K over Ehrlich.
—-
The Fox panel is saying that for all the losses Republicans have suffered, this is still a moderately conservative country, considering there are several House pickups made by Dems who recruited more moderate to conservative Dems for certain races.
—-
Greg Tinti has a “Lamont memories” video posted – one of the few bright spots of the evening.
—-
MT: I have a bad feeling about the Montana Senate race.
—-
VA: Allen is ahead again by about 2,000 votes, with 99.18% reporting.
—-
I was going to try and stay up to see if Fox was going to call TN, but I’m exhausted – g’nite ya’ll. Further thoughts on all this Wednesday.
—-
TN: Fox just announced that the AP is calling TN for Corker.
MO: The outstanding votes in MO are worrisome for Republicans, because it’s a lot of St. Louis votes and they think the lead Talent has will shrink big time once those votes are posted.
Ok, gnite for real now.

Allen is up 32K votes with 93% reporting.
– Lorica
Looks like they are calling the NH seats for the Dems. – Lorica
Allen 28,000 up with 95% in..
Here in NJ, Kean is toast, but my local GOP congressman won.
Of more interest are the three suburban Philly House seats the Dems targeted. They’ve taken one of them (bye, Curt Weldon) but the other two are still close.
I voted. It was neat. I voted for Arnold.
It will be interesting to see what happens to all of these ‘conservative Dems’ once they have 1st hand relations with the extremist left leadership. I bet they get the Zell Miller treatment. It will also be interesting to see just how far left these guys are willing to go, and if their respective districts are going to tolerate them moving to far left. – Lorica
I still doubt Culver’s win over Nussle. When over 60 percent of Des Moines has been reported, there is a lot of state left to count there. – Lorica
Steele is up 21,000 votes now.
Whoa…the WaPo just withdrew their projection of a Cardin win in the MD Senate race. Maybe there’s some hope for Michael Steele yet…
I voted for Arnold. Nobody better concede until absentee ballots are counted.
Allen’s up by 12,000 now with 97% in. Anyone know where those last 3% of the precincts are located?
[Webb] can request a recount.
That is what is being called “the litigation threshold”. If you cannot win at the ballot box, get some nitwit judge to order a gazillion recounts while Democratic Party activists gin up enough “lost” votes. Remember Florida in 2000?
GWR – Apparently they aren’t in the Arlington/Lexington area, which is heavy Democrat.
Fox just said the House is now under Democrat control.
The Dems now officially have control of the House
And so it begins………
God help us all
Rangel the Chairman on the Ways & Means Committee.. ugh..
I see why they think Webb has this won. Richmond city only has 67% reporting and Webb has 24K votes over Allen’s 8700.
– Lorica
Bend over and prepare for Amnesty. Allen is in trouble, but the absentee will decide that race. Not sure why TN is still undecided, but it will tip “R” soon. What a night.
Lorica. Don’t forget the absentees
I don’t know how right the Maryland numbers are, this is the Maryland elections site, and as of this post attempt, Steele is up 58-40.
Ok I am off to bed. My teeth are brushed my eye lids are heavy, and I have to work in the morn. Night All, it was good to hang tonight. – Lorica
Rangel the Chairman on the Ways & Means Committee.. ugh..
And Alcee Hastings running the Intelligence committee. The Gitmo inmates have gotta be loving that.
What did people vote for? They voted for hate rhetoric with a dose of lies… I just don’t believe it. The absentee ballots matter.
Webb now up 2500 votes w/ 99% in. This is gonna be recounted no matter what. Which means the first thing the Dem lawyers will do is try to toss out the votes from the servicemen and women.
stoo…those are really early, fragmentary numbers.
WaPo’s now got Cardin up 52-46 with 67% in…margin of about 55,000. Not looking good, especially if most of the uncounted votes are in Baltimore.
In Georgia, the AJC (Atlanta’s Rag) had a comment page asking folks why GA bucked the national trend. Check out the comments from liberals. They can’t even say positive things when they win nationally. And consider this is an open forum un-hidden by the bowels of Democratic Underground…

*sigh*
My beloved New Hampshire is now a blue state, through and through.
I think I’m going to be sick.
- Allens people just said the Networks are reversing the raw count, and reporting it wrong….Here we go…..
Allen’s wishing out loud. However, the absentee ballots have not been counted and that will be very interesting. I think he will still pull it out.
So what was Bush and Rove smoking when they said they were confident about this election? Any ideas?
- I’m really feeling low now Chris. It looks like the Dems aren’t going to take the Senate, and we were really looking forward too watching the Left screw that up too. Guess we’ll have to seetle with whatever mess they can turn the House side into, leading up to ’08.

Bush needs to keep his veto pen at the ready and for Pete’s sake USE IT!!!
*I don’t know who Pete is*
Well, I just woke up, 3:30 A.M. Alabama time and I see we are in a national crisis.
I can only pray that some of these dems are bluedogs and will at least try and work with the President but I ain’t holding my breath.
What I really hate is having to hear spittin chris matthews, olbermann, dean, polosi and the rest of the moonbats talking about this till these new guys take their seats in the chamber. They beat us guys, now all I can say is LET US PRAY.
CZ – was that the dontvote thingie I just saw?
Comment by Ryan
No, it is the one with the politician mingling with voters while he sings a broadway style tune about what a great person he is….he don’t even smoke…but pay no attention to what he stands for.
Well now, they have two years to show who they are, what they’re about and the folks will not like it.
2008. Don’t stop thinking about tomorrow.
Not seeing it in such a gloomy light really. Now the loud mouths will get their chance to see what it’s been like, listening to all the carping, and ankle biting for the past 6 years. Looking forward to payback time. Every cloud has a silver lining. They wanted it, now they’ve got it. Bon appitite’ to the moonbats….*chuckle* …. file under “be careful what you wish for”. If the Dems think this was a vote for them, then they’re still in delusion. It was a hard shot across the Reps bow, for getting nothing done on things like border security, and SS, ect. If the Republicans are smart they’ll see the hand writing on the wall and start acting like Republicans in the lead up to ’08. If they keep stubbornly ignoring the electorate, they’ll pay even more.
