You know, I've always wanted to walk into a crowded fire and shout "theater!" but was afraid it would push the boundaries of free speech too far.

As for the Donks, since the 2000 election they, or rather their execrable leadership has been continually pushing the boundaries of what I find to be inexcusable behavior.

Maybe the basic assumption is faulty.

A very liberal, Berkeley-miseducated former e-mail friend of mine wrote, before the invasion, that he hoped the Iraq invasion caused us enough pain so that we would never again attempt another such adventure.

They protested against the war before there was a war; they protested against the war at the beginning of the war, they protest and protest throughout the duration and will complain about the conclusion of the war. It's magical, just complain and never offer a solution, and say "We" could have done a better job had "We" somehow had been in power!

What would be so incredibly refreshing is to see some of these same Democrats, who have been the loudest in the coalition of the b!tching, instead of sounding the defeatist horn the first chance they get, instead say "look, the President's plan is not a winning strategy, but I KNOW we can win this thing and here's how we're gonna do it."

Sis, such a sentiment assumes that they want us to win; is there any particular evidence to suggest such a thing?

Mind you, this was before we discovered that all of the intelligence was wrong, this was when every reputable intelligence agency in the world thought that yes, there were WMD in Iraq. This former friend of mine didn't want us doing anything radical like imposing freedom and democracy, didn't want us exercising American power in a positive way. And he was a Korean War veteran.

Well, I think that he got his wish. And the brave Democratic politicians you mentioned, I suspect that, deep down, at least some of them feel pretty much the same way.
