Good Lord I am losing it. My last sentence should read: "If white folk shouldn't call women 'hos' then black folk shouldn't either". Sorry about that. - Lorica

Ok Brittany you had me with your first sentence, but you lost me somewhere after that. Rap is very degrading, but we can't blame rap for it??? It is quite simple, yes this sort of rebellion sells, to all people, but if the trash wasn't offered, it couldn't sell. It really is quite that simple. Some standards of decency should be met. If white folk should call women "hos" then black folk shouldn't either. - Lorica

I think rap is very degrading but I don't think that all rap music is bad. People have to remember that rap comes from the streets, if you want something a little lighter then you should be looking in the Hip Hop category. People try to blame rap for all the societal peoblems but look at how much sex and violence is on television. What about the sex in cartoons. People in America spend a lot of time talking about a problem but do little to find a solution. Rap an art that African Americans mostly use to express themselves this is why white America is putting the blame on it. IN slave days the white people were saying that Black people were uncivilized but yet they were raping black women and tearing families apart. If white America wants to piont the finger they need to pint the finger at themselves. A majority of the people buying rap music is in fact White People for those who didn't know. Rock and roll is just as bad as rap, those lead singers be talking about devil worship and world destruction. Pop music sells sex, hello Justin Timberlke and Christina. What about Britney? Instead of people opening their big mouths all the time, they need to get educated. Maybe parents are to be blamed as well. Imus was totally out of line, he can never place the blame on rap. EVER!

[...] Gwen Stafani recently said she’d be taking Akon on tour with her. I wonder if we’ll be hearing the same outrage from Sharpton and his merry band of hypocrites, over this, as we did over Imus. Don’t hold your breath. As Michelle points out, Akon has two songs currently, in Billboard’s Top 100. More on this: Rounds Out, Sister Toldjah, Hotair [...]

Sooooo what they are saying is that the only way they can persevere is to persecute someone else. Ok next stupid liberal excuse not to do the right thing.

Well, that seems to be the liberal attitude. Take the example of economics, they seem to be oblivious to the fact that you can improve the lot of everyone, make the rich richer and the poor richer at the same time. They seem to think that if one person gets richer someone else has to get poorer, it seems to feed some need they have to think that the people they seem to hate, the conservatives and evil rich, are always doing something TO someone else.

We can't overcome so we are going to trample over someone else. Outside of Sir Mixalot, and his song "My Hooptie", only cuz I was driving the exact same car he describes in the song, I have never listened to rap music, and consider most of it pandering to the most simple minded. - Lorica

I agree with you on much of what you stated, but the idealist in me still has hope that things will get better.

Most executives will ascertain that sex and drama sells, so maybe it's time we have more positive people in the industry. They can talk all they want until their blue in the face, but if they're not going to take some type of action - then you're right, nothing will change.
