After Rather, the ratings picked up when Bob Sheiffer took over, rose briefly the first week or two that Ms. Couric was on, and have dwindled since. She is simply not the stuff anchors are made of. And that has nothing to do with her sex. She lacks presence; she lacks an aura. For a look at somebody who has both of those, check out CNN's new morning anchor, Kiran Chetry, who manages to portray seriousness despite her impossible beauty. I'm sure that Gail Shister's story is accurate, and that Les Moonves will change anchors after the 2008 elections. Lara Logan will probably replace her. Because: let's face it, folks.
