But to the topic, the letter in itself is interesting. A classic piece of left-wing elitist prattle:

Well, there’s part of your problem right there. Get it through your heads: you do not represent the best and brightest. There are a lot of great, bright, people who don’t subscribe to your nonsense. You’re not even remotely old enough to do what some truly great people have done. You haven’t contributed even a minute fraction of what people like NC Cop have given to this country. The first thing you kids need to do is lose the fat heads.

Therefore, we believe we have a responsibility to voice our convictions.

Fine. First tell me, exactly how did you come by these convictions? Did you closely question all your sources of information? Did you make an honest effort to examine all sides of the question? Did you get past historical perspective on the uses and types of torture applied by different societies in modern times? Or did you simply regurgitate left-wing slop picked up at DU or Kos, just because you knew it was what the socialist teacher wanted you to say?

We do not want American to represent torture.

First of all, Best and Brightest, your sentence structure is clumsy and grammatically incorrect. But I digress. See above….do you have the slightest concept of what torture is? Hint: parading around with panties on your head doesn’t qualify. Neither does listening to Christina Aguilera music.. Hell, in a year or two some of you will be doing both of them for fun in college. At the same time.

Pop quiz for the so-called Best and Brightest: name me one system of torture which includes prayer time, three healthy meals daily, and a weight gain of some 20 pounds per prisoner. Go ahead, take a minute and ponder it. You can even use your left-wing social studies teacher for a lifeline.

They probably did mean this, but there’s always the chance they’re being manipulated by some liberal with an agenda. Wouldn’t be the first time.
