She cited an article in Friday’s Politico newspaper that contained a quote from an anonymous Democratic senator: “No one wants to call (Petraeus) a liar on national TV. The expectation is that the outside groups will do this for us.”

So the dems will condemn Moveon.org and maintain their “support for the troops” and their minions will do their bidding for them.

The Dems are realizing, in full measure right now, just how much of a Faustian bargain that was NC Cop. Let them twist I say.

Gen. Petraeus is a master at conterinsurgency warfare, they would be well advised to listen to him, regardless of whether they like what he’s saying or not.

Everyone on scene is describing the Dems as “livid”, after their roasting today in the hearings.

- The Cal Senator holding up that NYT ad was simply devastating, contrasted by the Dems droning on with speeches, basically villyfying Patraeus, and the efforts of the troops, accusing him of letting the White House “edit” his report, and just generally do everything they possibly could to reinforce the idea that they desperately need an American failure in Iraq to survive the upcoming presidential cycle.

- Ending the hearings so abruptly probably indicates moderate Democrats had seen enough and pulled the plug in all out damage control. Patraeus was just too much for them to handle, added to the acting out of their lame brained crazy party wing in the attic.

I do not consider E3s and E4s as military strategists.

While they may not be Generals or Captains, ect, it does not mean soldiers of lesser rank do not have the right to speak thier opinion either.

It also seems close to saying that because you have not served in the military you have no right to speak on military matters, which also is bunk.

On a direct note, not surprised that Sheehan was arrested with Code Pink, breaking her word that she was standing down as the head or ‘leader’ of the antiwar movement.

I also think this will play out badly for the Democrats, not just the report from Petraeus, but thier outright attacks on Petraeus BEFORE he even gave his report, atacking both his message (which they didn’t know what was in it – but billed it has ‘Bush’s report’) and Petraeus’s character itself.

Personally I think these attacks on Petraeus should be played as soundbites against these peole who came out like this, replay it over and over again and let the country know what type of fools these people are – and perhaps they will not get elected back.

Petraeus even said this was HIS testimony, and he has not even cleared what he was going to say with the Whitehouse, striking down the foolish notion that this is ‘Bush’s Report’.

I have no problem if the Democrats want to attack the message AFTER it has been delivered, then we all know what was said and can dissect it accordingly, but seeing the Democrats come out and attack the report and the man before he even gives his report I think is completely out of line and is nothing more than a smear campaign of fear….a fear of what might be said.

Oh, and I expect Tommy to echo the Democrat talking points and trash Petraeus, too.

Of course, PCD. It’s interesting that when generals, retired or otherwise, bash President Bush all you hear from these people is “Listen to the troops!!”, yet when the troops say something that they don’t like they will cast them as villainous, company line toting, lap dogs of the president.
