Seems like a competent guy to me and he is conservative, don't see a problem.
Would have liked to see Olsen but for some reason the dems hate him so why nominate a guy that they pulverize in the media and hearings?:-?

Malkin should stop being so paranoid. I watched the roundtable on Special Report. According to Fred Barnes, Mukasey & Bush are on the same page when it comes to the Patriot Act, warrantless surveillance & other national security issues.

Mara Liasson said that she expects Mukasey to get confirmed relatively quickly.

Conservatives helped run Alberto Gonzales out of the Justice Department knowing full well that the Democrats would control the confirmation process for anyone taking his place.

Got a link? I know I didn't see any conservatives here chanting for Gonzalez' head...if anything, we'd have liked to see him stand up to the Dems more than he did.

Malkin says there is conservative opposition???

Think about it for a minute. Doesn't the fact that a loony left group like Alliance for Justice approves of this nominee make you want to find out why?? For me, the answer is "Hell, Yes!" I'm not opposed to him...yet. But if AJ, along with Chuckie Schumer and other partisan Dems like him, I want him checked out thoroughly before I sign on to the choice.

Conservatives aren't going to mindlessly support everything the President does. It's called having principles. When he's right - as in the WOT, or on taxes, or on the judges he's appointed - he will get 100% support. When he's wrong - like the illegal immigration amnesty - we will dissent. The jury's still out on this one.

Malkin says there is conservative opposition???

Conservatives helped run Alberto Gonzales out of the Justice Department knowing full well that the Democrats would control the confirmation process for anyone taking his place. And now they want to sabotage the new guy too? Really, with friends like this Republicans do not need enemies.

I remember once upon a time when conservatives said that the President had a right to his choice as a nominee and the nominee had a right to a vote. I guess that only applies if they ok the nominee.

So once again conservatives and liberal Democrats join forces to make life difficult for a Republican president.
