If the purpose of this group’s meeting with Romney was to put him on notice that they’ll be watching him closely for the next 4 ( or 8 ) years to make sure he’s not backsliding, I’m OK with it. If it was to come hat in hand and ask him to be the leader…no. I want to see more than a year’s campaign rhetoric. I want to see him out there this year and in 2010 stumping and fund-raising for conservative candidates. I voted for him on 2/5, but that was more a vote against McCain than for Romney. He needs to prove it should be the other way around.

That’s not very original, Ted. It’s laughable to suggest you’ve been “debunking” me in any thread, because the fact is you haven’t. Outside of your repeatedly misrepresenting my opinion, as well as others, the only thing you continue to do is try to lecture all of us on how you are the only “principled” conservative here because of how you are choosing to exercise your right to vote this election. Please, spare us already, and get over yourself. Just because people don’t fall in line with your wish to “destroy” this country if you don’t get what you want, in order to teach it a lesson doesn’t mean they are any less principled (that is, if you can call wanting to destroy this country “principled”).

I’m eager to heal the divisions and wounds within the conservative movement, too, but – to borrow a phrase from La Clinton – I’m not willing to suspend disbelief in order to do so.

However, you seem to be willing to suspend disbelief in order to elect a globalist/socialist into the White House that for some reason, you think will execute the GWoT? The same man who supports a globalist agenda? The same man who wants to shut down Gitmo? The same man who is against water boarding? The same man who was once supported by George Soros?

But having your heart and mind in the right place as far as the GWOT is concerned does not automatically make one a conservative. Just ask Joe Lieberman.
