Conservative Senator Jim DeMint (SC) writes that McCain’s plan gives “power to the people”, but the National Journal’s Clive Cook sees big problems with it.

I support McCain because he will by far make the better Commander in Chief and will also fight to win in Iraq. The same is certainly not true for Hilly the Hun nor He Whose Middle Name Must Not Be Mentioned.

But as for the rest of McCain’s platform – well, I am bracing for at least four more years of pricey, worse-than-useless “compassionate conservatism”.
