Someone on a list I subscribe to talked about how McCain got a slap on the wrist for his involvment in the S&L Crisis. She posted a wikipedia link. I happened to follow it to the Keating 5 link. Here's the entry:
Glenn and McCain: cleared of impropriety but criticized for poor judgment

The Senate Ethics Committee ruled that the involvement of Glenn in the scheme was minimal, and the charges against him were dropped.[36] He was only criticized by the Committee for "poor judgment."[38]

The Ethics Committee ruled that the involvement of McCain in the scheme was also minimal, and he too was cleared of all charges against him.[37][36] McCain was criticized by the Committee for exercising "poor judgment" when he met with the federal regulators on Keating's behalf.[7] The report also said that McCain's "actions were not improper nor attended with gross negligence and did not reach the level of requiring institutional action against him....Senator McCain has violated no law of the United States or specific Rule of the United States Senate."[39] On his Keating Five experience, McCain has said: "The appearance of it was wrong. It's a wrong appearance when a group of senators appear in a meeting with a group of regulators, because it conveys the impression of undue and improper influence. And it was the wrong thing to do."[7]

Regardless of the level of their involvement, both senators were greatly affected by it. McCain would write in 2002 that attending the two April 1987 meetings was "the worst mistake of my life".[40] Glenn has described the Senate Ethics Committee investigation as the low point of his life.[8]

Sounds to me like he got a slap on the wrist so that they could make it look like Republicans were somehow involved.

Yes, Obama is a Chicago Democrat... Many outside of this state don't understand what that means, however. ;-)

It is time that all of this was made clear, to the public.

This is what he does.

He got elected to statewide office by using lawyers to disqualify all his opponents. He got elected to the senate by getting a judge to unseal and publish sealed divorce action documents. He told his legions to overwhelm the phone lines of a Chicago station interviewing David Freddoso so they couldn't do the show properly. He threatened McCain supporters with legal criminal DOJ action.

He's a classic bully, and, like a classic bully, when anybody stands up to him he starts blubbering and crying for him mommy or, in his case, the New York Times.

The MSM has pissed off Mainstream America with their Anti-Sarah Goebbels propaganda, and that means Fast Barky is gonna lose...

If Barky was gonna win, do you think Bill and Hillary would be soooooo hesitent to support him? They'd be sucking up to him...

When Jeremiah Wright comes out with his book in the end of October, watch Fast Barky run for cover; and come Nov 5th, Hillary will shrug her shoulders and say, "I Toldjah So!"

<blockquote>"First of all, my brother is not a lobbyist. He's not a lobbyist. He's not a lobbyist. He's never been a lobbyist" the mayor said.

In fact, Bill Daley was a key Washington lobbyist for top U.S. and foreign companies, and President Bill Clinton picked him to lobby Congress for passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement. When he was president of SBC Communications Inc. in 2003 he coordinated lobbying campaigns to sway both state and federal lawmakers.</blockquote>
This was a Monthy Python sketch, right?

Sir John Cunningham: "There is <strong>no</strong> cannibalism in the British Navy, absolutely none, and when I say none, I mean there is a certain amount. More than we'd care to admit."

Ummmm someone might want to tell Mr. Daley, of all that were brought forth on that Keating deal, Mr. McCain was the only republican, as I understand it, in the group, and the only one acquited.

So his throwing mud would be lies, and more lies. Obama's all but said he's part of Chicago politics, and yes. We all know what that means.
