No matter what state you live in you’ve seen political corruption, but in the cases of Illinois and Lousiana, corruption is a way of life amongst politicos – going back decades. Slate.com weighs in on which state they think is the most corrupt here.
North Carolina has seen its share of corruption over the years, the most recent being amongst several prominent Democrat politicians and one Republican who switched parties for political gain courtesy of former Democrat House Speaker Jim Black, but thankfully we’ve seen nothing on the level of an IL or LA.
And speaking of corruptocrats, Illinois AG Lisa Madigan is saying that he and his sources have heard that disgraced Gov. Blago may step down tomorrow. Stay tuned …

And, of course, Madigan is a wholly disinterested party, just looking out for good government and the interests of the people.
And, if you believe that, I have this nice bridge for sale…
She may be right (the resignation of Blago’s chief of staff is a big blow to him, because that guy is surely talking), but she herself wants to be governor, and her father, the Speaker of the Illinois lower house, wants her to be governor, too. All her moves (such as appealing to the Illinois SC to disqualify Blago) are meant to a) position her for a run as a reform candidate and bury the information that she was one of the people considered to replace Obama, and b) protect her Dad, who made plenty of “deals” with Blago and others that they don’t want coming to light if Blago gets to defend himself in an impeachment trial. Hence the move to disqualify him via the Court.
Really, the extent of the rot that’s being exposed in Illinois politics is breathtaking.
Thing is, the rankings depend upon actual convictions, and the prime method of corruption in Illinois has involved buying judges. That might somewhat depress the conviction rate, I’d think.
After working in Chicago and studying their democrat political machine for 30 years I can assure you nothing will change. Nothing. It is by far the most corrupt form of government in the U.S.
Roger Daltry said it best – Meet the new boss…same as the old boss.

I think it was Peter Townsend who wrote that, but I agree with sentiment.
The Machine cuts loose any exposed politician who will be a liability, but the Machine rolls on.
Do you remember what the late Steve Goodman wrote in his “Election Year Rag”?
“The winner is always somebody else, and the loser is always us.”
Ain’t that the truth.
