I don't think this is necessarily an attempt to paint Obama as the next Lincoln so much as it's an attempt by the left to rewrite some history and claim one of the icons of conservatism and the Republican Party as their own. I've already come across some comments at a couple of lefty sites saying that were Lincoln alive today, he would have been a liberal (a few have said the same thing about Washington and some of the other founding fathers). You know what I think?
