The sad part in all this is that CO2 does not increase any heating of the atmosphere. The heat was already there when a slender fraction of the outgoing IR was heading for outer space.Be absorbed by CO2 that occupies at most 8% of the IR part of the spectrum.

Here I will post a neat quick statement that I have posted at my forum:

"From Alan Siddons

The Madness of Susan Solomon? Solomon: 'Think about CO2 as more like nuclear waste than acid rain'

Problem is, the U.S. Supreme Court has helped unleash this madness, having decided that carbon dioxide is some sort of "thermal pollutant." Yet CO2 isn't even a heat-trapping gas, as popularly alleged. It's a heat-emitting gas — or more precisely, it absorbs a few wavelengths of infrared light and radiates this energy in turn. Whatever it gains it loses. But since 99.96% of the other molecules in dry air get heated by conductive transfer alone (after which convective currents commence), the atmosphere is perfectly able to warm up without any CO2 at all. Remove this trace gas from a room, for instance, and there’d be no observable change in temperature. Moreover, since non-IR-absorbing air molecules do NOT react to infrared (by definition), the light emitted by CO2 is unable to heat them! That’s why radiant heaters are so ineffective at heating air. Maybe it seems boring, but zillions of air molecules colliding with hotter surfaces and with each other is how our air gets warm. One molecule among 2500 — all of them competing for heat — is lost in the rushing crowd.

In short, the sun heats the ground. Then the ground heats the air — but a very odd theory has it quite the other way around. Too few people have considered that 0.04% of the atmosphere’s contents is a very weak mule to load an overheated public scare tactic on. Watch as the legs buckle.

Since I am in the middle of an area ravaged by an ice storm, it seems appropriate to talk about the weaknesses of the global warming theory.

Good point GWR, for all the money wasted on this CO2 boondoggle, it would have been possible to add scrubbers to most of the factories and power plants in Asia, reducing the noxious brown cloud and soot particles that actually do have a climate impact and which, more importantly, sicken and harm millions of humans.

Nah!

After all, if they’re wrong, who gets hurt with a “cleaner world”?

Hmmm…tell that to the 30-40 million dead, mostly children, in Africa who died due to malaria after the demonization and banning of DDT.

Not to mention the billions of dollars that could have been spent on legitimate research into cures for real problems and diseases instead of being wasted on politically correct snipes hunts like AGW.

It’s more important that they have passion and “care” about something than get the facts right. After all, if they’re wrong, who gets hurt with a “cleaner world”?
