Feb. 2 (Bloomberg) -- Thomas A. Daschle, picked by President Barack Obama to be Health and Human Services secretary, said he was “deeply embarrassed” about $128,000 in errors on his taxes, and promised in a letter to answer all questions about how it happened.

Well there you go problem solved. No interest penalties, no late fees, no added water of any kind, because Tommy Boy is a good liberal, and we only use the IRS to crush conservatives.

If you have ever read the book "The power to destroy" there is a story about a guy, whose accountant made a 80K error about a deduction. Well 7 years later the IRS decides to audit this poor soul and they find this error. So the IRS bills the guy almost 700,000.00 for the mistake. Now I ain't no super genius, like Tom Daschle, but I think Tom should have to pay back the IRS 9 times what he owes, just like you or me.

Ohhh and what happened to the poor soul that made the 80K error??? He bartered the IRS down to 250,000.00 and then killed himself so that his family could keep their house and the family business as his insurance would cover that amount. 2 weeks after that, his wife gets a phone call from the IRS telling her they want their money. Upon being notified that her husband was dead, they told the poor widow the deal was made with the deceased, and so it was no longer valid, and they foreclosed on her house, business, and kept the insurance money. This was the IRS of the 1990s. - Lorica
