Well, with Big Zero as the messiah, maybe Geithner is supposed to be Moses and lead us all out of the captivity of the evil Bush years? Problem is, he ain't no leader and those in the profession (economists) know it, he ain't no economist and everyone knows it, and he ain't gonna lead no one outta nowhere and those who might wish to participate in that know they'll lose any shred of reputation they ever had if they follow either Geithner's or Zero's lead.

Maybe he'll do what Big Zero shoulda done with appointing a Cabinet, picking names at random outta the phone book. Would probably do a better job than taking some "economist" dumb enough to accept a position under either Geithner or Obama and would be less likely to have huge ethical problems.

To be fair to Dr. Sanjay Gupta, he IS a doctor (and neurosurgeon to boot). So he does have medical skills to his credit (he has an impeccable surgical record down here in Georgia). He probably realized his earning potential will be cut drastically and decided to stick to his media empire.

As to the Treasury Department, no one wants anything to do with it. Plain and simple.

Well, remember that these financial wizards would have to be vetted, and Geithner took a lot of heat for not knowing how to fill out his tax forms properly even though he was to head the IRS. Wonder why none of them wants that vetting?

As for Gupta, just the fact that he was under consideration places a pall over him and his reputation. After all, they would have to vet him, too.
