I don't believe Obama even has the capacity to think about the consequences of his actions. He has opened up a can of worms that has absolutely no upside for anyone (including many Democrats) except for terrorists, although he did believe he could win political points for his party. I mean, this guy actually read through the memos, marking out anything that could make a case for the opposition. Chavez would be proud.

The funny part is that he thought it would fly. We conservatives are not the blind sheep that comprises the majority of your constituency, Mr. Obama. You might have been able to pull the wool over enough people's eyes during your campaign to get elected, but this ain't Chicago anymore kid.

All the times Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter have publicly criticized George Bush? Never happened. 2 + 2 = 5.

[...] How Obama’s release of memos backfired Ed Morrissey has an excellent post up today describing in detail how Barack Obama’s release of the ‘torture’ memos has backfired spectacularly, as the focus has now shifted to what did Pelosi and other Democrats know and when did they know it, how Obama’s trying to “push back” on Democrats calls for Republican blood, and - most importantly - why the administration redacted parts of the memos that talked about the results of the enhanced interrogations. Make sure to read Ed’s full post. [...]

I used to have a brazilian boa as a pet, and I would consider either the former VP Algore or the present prez its intellectual equal. But I certainly wouldn't consider them intellectually, morally or ethically Cheney's equal in any way, shape or form.

I'm a big fan of Cheney's, also. I meant to say: he has no political agenda. So, why would a sitting President even bother to attack him? It's irrational.

Dick Cheney probably saved our butts these last 8 years.

The Geneva Convention does not cover non-uniform wearing terrorists or pirates.

The Democrat Party is full of lame anti-military whimps and they are not going to protect our country in any way shape or form EVER.

Lookout for 9/11 in this year of 2009.

I am very grateful for Cheney (admittedly I've always held him in high regard). I listened to what he said and heard no personal attacks, no gratuitous criticisms. I heard genuine concern, from a man who knows what we can not know. I heard someone only concerned about the nation and the American people.

I think Cheney speaks eloquently, intelligently and for all of us. Anyone who believes Carter, Clinton or Gore is his equal (in my mind) is too far gone to reach.

At least it appears the President was sincere. The rest of it is terrifying. Our president apparently believes that the thought of waterboarding three terrorists would make the populace of our country irate. So, he's suggesting he would NOT have done the same thing. He would NOT have waterboarded someone to save a child in Los Angeles. Also, what kind of idiot is he to continue a campaign against a defeated foe? I mean, he DID win the election, right? He's got to be the only person in the country who gives a flip about what Cheney is doing.

Found your website today and I am thoroughly pleased with it - keep writing! As far as this article, words cannot describe how sad I feel for this country. We will be strong again, we are strong and we won't give up.

Thank you!

How Obama’s release of enhanced interogation memos...

Obama is wrong, and looks a fool for this 'memo-gate'. I agree with Sister Toldjah when she states, "This administration is in over its head on this issue, and doesn’t know how to get out of it."...

Have no fear, Mr. President. If you need a war resolution, you can count on Republican backing.

NC Cop has it right. As an almost life-long Chicagoan, this is Chicago politics. This isn't even the tip of the iceberg. Just wait. The politics in Chicago and Cook County are so screwed up. What's good for the aldermen and women, the commissioners or whoever is in charge is what's important. Not what's good for the population. It's going to be that way in Washington too. But they tell you all they are doing for you.

Cook County has the highest sales tax in the country. Where does it go? How can Chicago afford to pay for the Olympics when they say they can't afford to give their police a raise or a contract? The CPD have been without a contract for 2 years.

There's too much Chicago politics in Washington for anything good to come out of it.

The piece talks about how it’s almost unheard of for a former President or VP to go on the attack against a new administration so soon after they’ve left office.

Two words for the NYT: Al Gore.

They do tend to have short - or selective - memories over there, don't they?

This is Chicago politics at its finest, it's just been brought to Washington. Obama is trying to keep attention off of his policies, that's all. Releasing the photos will do nothing but inflame anti-American sentiment and put our soliders in greater danger, not that they care.

Absolutely reprehesible. They are traveling down a very dangerous path. They will not be in power forever and making a habit of investgating every previous administration would polarize this country worse than its ever seen.

Consider your actions very, very carefully O. They could have far reaching consequences.
