This new "department" is redundant. It is necessary, though, because Obama needs as much window dressing as possible to make it seem like he's a "classy" guy. This is just another page out of the Kennedy-wannabe book. Money has been going to the NEA (national endowment for the arts) for quite a while, but Obama feels the need to stand out and make it look like he really cares. Yeah, Stevie Wonder is such a fine artist...why not give that money to a painter or sculptor or other student of the fine arts who actually got some of that endowment money to start their art career?
