Now that is a wholly different kettle of fish. I sort of address this in my 2nd paragraph when I talk about the new American Royalty. I personally think that there should be a 12 year term limit, and no retirement plan for these guys. Also, any pay raise or insurance benefits should only be set by a vote of the people. In what world does the employee tell the employer when they deserve a pay raise?? It is just idiotic. – Lorica

If Dodd, Kennedy, Reid, Pelosi and Boxer represent the “best and the brightest” of our citizenry, we’re in a lot worse shape than even I suspected.

That not necessary true about state employee’s. I have a few friends that work for the state and from what they say, there insurance sucks.

I agree if this passes then ALL fed and state employees should be part of it. I think a lot of the states are looking forward to this, as it would allow them to dump their health care more on a fed level instead of the state itself.

Perhaps they should require that the proceeds from books penned by public officials or about their time as public officials be taxed at the 100% rate.

I thought it was already illegal for a criminal to earn a profit for a book about their crimes…

This isn’t true Mary. As far as Federal Employees go, the Gov. is to lazy to do it’s due diligence and actually sit down with the insurance companies and come up with some decent plans. Right now they have this crazy mixed up thing called a cafeteria plan, where 50 different companies vie for our dollars. It is a mess and not very good either.

I had way better insurance in the private sector. Almost as good as the new American Royalty, we use to call our Senators and Representatives.

As far as retirement goes, the old system CSRS was paid for mostly by it’s employees. The new system is a Social Security/401K plan, not at all different from what the private sector has. – Lorica

Except for liable laws applicable to speeches in the Congress, I find no reason any of them should be “more equal than others”, including the POTUS and VP.

In fact the next huge bill coming due down the pike is their pensions…that we are supposed to pay.
