Larry, I'm going to assume you're young enough to have missed the story when it broke, but Anthony is 100% accurate here. During the Reagan administration, Kennedy actively sought out the Soviet leadership with the express goal of helping them prevail against America's foreign policy. His loyalty was to his party, not to his country.

Further, this wasn't some idealistic swords-into-plowshares effort. Kennedy knew he was helping America's enemy. We know this because he took pains to destroy any evidence of his dealings with the Soviets. We didn't learn of this until the USSR collapsed (thanks to Reagan and no thanks to Kennedy) and the KGB archives were opened. If the Russians hadn't maintained careful records, we might never have known the extent of his treachery.

ClassicFilm, according to the media there is no prominent Republican, at least one who could be canonized within 15 seconds of his death, and the only ones who gain any positive press are also known as RINOs.

Excellent point, Carlos. But you said "there is no prominent Republican," when you should have written "there never has been nor ever will be any Republican" when it comes to the media EVER falling over themselves in sycophant fashion, using Hallmark-esque superlatives, trying to be the first to grant sainthood to any Republican. Even Reagan was attacked by the liberal media soon after his passing. Obama and his crappy "seance" comment to Nancy not too long ago shows how even long after death, Republicans are prime for the punching by statists. Granted, Obama did apologize, but I doubt it was because he had a realization that he'd stepped in a cow patty. Rather, I'm guessing that outcry from GOP congressman likely made him backpedal on it.

While I'd never be so crass or insensitive to want to dance on Teddy's grave, I am not above a bit of snarking... shameless self-promotion of two posts on my blog:

However, I still think his love of family, country...

You mean the love of country he showed when he offered to cooperate with the Soviets to frustrate Reagan's foreign policy in order to advance his own political career?

Though I am a conservative Republican and have disagreed with almost everything Ted Kennedy has stood for as long as I can remember, I still have to respect his service to the country and his steadfact belief in what he worked so dilligently for.

His 46 years os service do not erase the fact that he left that poor youn lady in a car to drown in 1969 and then went home and did not tell any one until the next morning. He should have been punished harsly for that like anyone else would have been. However, I still think his love of family, country and in his way the Love of God, should be respected.

My condolences to his family.

Teddy May you rest in Peace

This is exactly the same tactic used by Johnson in the 60s to pass “civil rights” legislation

Carlos, Republicans in Congress got the civil rights laws passed, good Dems voted against it just like Al Gore's Dad. It was the right thing to do, it was only later that the Dems realized that they could expand it and enslave millions of voters all for the sake of Dem power.

I also agre with GWR about what Sev posted in a previous thread, this thing has the makings of a huge celebration from these simple minded fools. I have more respect for Ted Kennedy than these buffoons do. I would in no way be shocked if their mock reverance turns into jubulee as they announce that 0bamacare(yes that is a zero) will now be called KennedyKare. Also, 10 bucks says that one of the Kennedys starts to blah blah blah about not having a Kennedy in the Senate, any takers???

Proof, Rush was saying something about that yesterday also. According to 0bamacare, it is a person's duty to die before they cost a small fortune just to up and die anyway. How many "Deathpanels" did Ted get to see before he decided to so honorably let go of life?? The thing about anylaw is the fact that it is suppose to cover everyone equally. So the little amendment that expempts certain people from Government health care is actually un-Constititional.

In all honesty, I hate these times we are living in. I hate deception in myself, and I despise it in those around me. My problem is, I continue to believe that this deception inparticular, is the last days deception that the Lord talks about in scriptures. No man shall know the day or the hour, but we will be able to discern the season. I know in my heart that this deception must take place, but I despise it none the less. - Lorica

Now Now people we don't want the libs to call us mean do we? This is another opportunity for the left wing freaky people to bash Bush some more. Put your seat belt on because people like Brian Williams and his major network buddies are going to try to make the sheeple think most people are for obama's health scare plan. Get ready because they have already announced what they are going to do. Seriously, we need to fight back harder than ever on this or we have had it as a country. One thing I'm pretty sure of though is if the dems pas this nightmare, there will be quite a few less in DC after the mid term elections next year. The only positive.

No. Their motto, the sole driving force in the Democrat Party is"Lie,Cheat,Steal and kill. Anything to win.

Since the Democrats have politicized Kennedy's death I think it is fair to ask them if Senator Kennedy would have been subject to the Healthcare Bill the Democrats wish to pass and that he supposedly supported. I bet the answer would be a resounding NO

It'll be a cold day next to Teddy when you see the media stop and pander like this for a conservative.

I take it that’s a rhetorical question? /:)

Yep, and the obvious answer is no.

Severian nailed it on the previous thread - what we're about to see will make the Wellstone funeral look tasteful and restrained by comparison.

There is nothing the left won't do and no lie they won't tell to advance their goal of extending the power of the almighty State and limiting individual liberty.
