The Ft. Hood massacre could have been avoided. Maj. Hasan could have been separated from the service under AR600-8-24 for substandard performance, national security, etc.–no malfeasance or criminal conduct need be alleged or proved.
As an ex-Army JAG I’m angered and embarrassed that the Army’s policy of Political Correctness contributed to the massacre. The pervasiveness and strenth of the policy of PC was evidenced by Gen. Casey’s statements–and don’t think the message wasn’t heard by all the officers down the line. Of course, Obama’s line was the same. The last thing the administration wants is for us to realize is that THE FT. HOOD MASSACRE WAS AN ACT OF ISLAMIC TERRORISM ON OUR SOIL UNDER OBAMA’s WATCH!

Of course it couldn’t. Not when people in responsible positions (teachers, parents, supervisors, superior officers, the intelligence [?] community, etc.) are afraid to say anything about anything except mush for fear of offending someone, even if that someone is a continent or half a world away.

Not realistically, anyway, and it won’t change until we take society, state schools, the courts and the legislatures back from nazis who won’t allow any expression except what they approve.
