If the turkey is going to take 4½ hours to cook at 325º F, how long would it take if we teleported it to Venus, where the surface temperature is around 900º F and the atmospheric pressure is around 1325 PSI? We could then teleport it back, all done. We’re just trying to figure out how long it needs to be there to do a good, succulent Thanksgiving dinner.

Y’know, I hear there’s this uneducated, moose-hunting, baby-making hick up in Alaska (Where is that, btw?) who has the crazy idea that ST and the rest of us bitter-clingers can best decide for ourselves how our Thanksgiving food is best consumed, and that we don’t need an Edible Assets Czar – or any other kind of czar.

Crazy, ain’t it? Good thing no one will ever listen to her.

We had our Thanksgiving a week ago last Saturday:18-pound turkey stuffed with sage dressing, smashed potatoes,acorn squash, and peas. I no longer make pies but we do cook pumpkin pudding; all five of our children are grown and gone. We go on vacation over Thanksgiving week. One year we went to Hot Springs, Arkansas; one year we went to Branson. This year we are spending the week in a mountain top condo near Terry Peak Ski Resort in Lead, South Dakota–in the Black Hills. Wishing you all a very blessed and peaceful Thanksgiving!

Wait….you’re having both turkey and ham?? Hold it right there, Missy – I’m afraid that’s no longer permitted.

As the new Federal Administrator of Turkey, Ham, and Edible Assets Distribution Czar, I’m declaring this feast to be Excess Profits, er, I mean, Proteins, and I hereby confiscate the excess. We need to redistribute the wealth, and that includes drumsticks, you know. There are many less fortunate ACORN members who could use this food.

Carol that is a huge turkey, did you grow it yourself?? I loved this Cajun restuarant we had here, and everytime I went to eat there the chef would visit tables and tell people that he raised the cow/pig/chicken, whatever they were eating. lol “raised ‘em on an eyedropper” is what he would always say. LOL

Sev you aren’t a racist!! LOL Just a typical white person. LOL

I am having turkey too. Mom will be out and so will my 2 Brothers and some of the grand children, not mine but Mom’s.

Planning on watching the new Star Trek movie if the football games aren’t very good. I am looking forward to the Packers and Lions game. I really do like the Lions QB. We shall see.

We are doing just a turkey breast, there aren’t many of us, and we all prefer the white meat (raaacist!). We’ve got it down to where we are out of leftovers by Friday afternoon, so I don’t have to make turkey lo mein, turkey lasagna, turkey soup, turkey sandwiches, turkey sushi, turkey fritatas, turkey pad thai…etc. over the next week or so.

23 pounds of turkey for us, with all the side dishes, I am hoping this will feed 22-23 people.
We will have ham and a 15-16 pound turkey for Christmas. We never know how many will be with us on that day. With children, grandchildren, great grands, in-laws, and the family keeps growing.
We use a sweet potato and brown sugar glaze for the ham. Really special.

My sister and her late husband used to own a meat market, and every year we’d have turkey, ham, and roast beef. Fortunately, my parents had a lot of grandkids and great-grandkids to eat it all.

I like turkey, but I think ham’s my favorite holiday meat these days. I glaze mine with a sauce of orange juice, bourbon, and brown sugar.

Now I’m hungry…
