If all you knew about me was from comments (here and elsewhere), you would think I’m a bitter old man.

In fact, the opposite is true. I’m a very happy person with a wonderful life, retired, but see a falling away from the traits that made this country great, and that saddens me. I will not go quietly into that dark night of socialism, and intend to use whatever petty powers of language I have to convince whomever I can that freedom, all freedom, is what’s at stake here.

We are being attacked from within by a president bent on his own ideological vision of an “academiocracy,” very socialist, very denigrating and demeaning to the human spirit.

We are also being attacked from without by the very heart of intolerant Islam, which seeks to fulfill the commands of the Quran; that is, subjugate, enslave or kill. Those are the only options for a Muslim, and consequently anyone who calls themselves a Muslim automatically becomes my enemy, at one level or another.

Yeah, turning “Orientalist” into a pejorative is one of Said’s many crimes against academia.

Yes Phineas, “Islamist” used today covers lots of ground. But I believe scholars such as Bernard Lewis have long been more commonly known as “Orientalists,” at least until the word was highjacked and made into a perjorative by hacks such as the late unlamented Edward Said.

In my considered opinion, Islam is the enemy, not islamists.

Even “Islamists” is a misnomer. The word originally meant “a scholar who studies Islam,” such as Bernard Lewis. It arose as a euphemism for jihadists, I think, from those who were looking for a more politically palatable word to use than simply saying “Islam” or “Muslims.” And that’s part of the problem we face in the struggle with the renewed jihad: our unwillingness to plainly name the foe – Muslims who embrace the doctrine of Islamic supremacy and act upon it through violent and/or cultural jihad.

But in an administration that calls war a “overseas contingency operation,” I seriously doubt we’ll ever hear someone use the word “jihadist.”

GWB was no more a conservative than is McCain, and not much more of one than was Specter of PA. Yes, I am very familiar with what it is to be a conservative.

I don’t wish to start a sniping battle here, sir. I enjoy your comments and think you add much to each discussion. But you missed the point of that comment, which was, even those many consider conservative are completely wrong when it comes to Islam.

In my considered opinion, Islam is the enemy, not islamists. It is a vile and dangerous religion, self-serving and without social merit when taken as a whole. It teaches treachery, subjugation and death, none of which has a place in a discussion of “peace.”

Another Hadith says: “O people! People are of two types; pious, righteous, estimable before Allah or nefarious, wretched, insignificant before Allah. All the people are descendants of Adam and Allah created Adam with soil.” (Timizi, Baihaqi)
This was the first example of its kind in human history that the Quran eradicated racial prejudice so vehemently and emphatically, and asserted Muslims to consider the people of the world their brother and a human being like themselves. It uprooted racial hatred and asked to treat each other with good conduct. It is the fundamental principle of tolerance to consider the other communities human being like yourselves; since then only you can behave with them tolerantly and morally. If we consider them humiliated, abject and lowly then it is impossible to have a moral and tolerant conduct towards them.

CONCLUSION: Dear brothers & sisters of the world (whicever religion you may be in) PLEASE go through the above 49 verses of the Holy Quran and then comment.

The Egyptian clergy was wrong in his statements. He is a fanatic NOT a true Muslem!!
